I listened to New Dragon´s Inn Rap, I dunno maybe I was too stoned but I could only laugh, it sounds like a funny movie to me. If that´s what you intended then you accomplished it!! Technically I think the levels might be a bit hot? Mike, Asylum´s music is cool and heavy, on kill the martyr IMHO vocals just a little loud, drums need work, inconsistent snare, clear kick though.... ripping at the seams has a cool bass sound, better overall drum sound than above, maybe it´s because the tune is slower tempo and the drummer plays more consistent? Stab Stab, kik kinda muddy... In general Mike I think you´ve done a great job with the vocals. Tommydee, listened to it´s awright. Cool sounds, dig the snare, steel drums (sample?) Let´s all get wild sounds fun. Kamurah, you´re very welcome and cheers to you! |

I'm not sure, I think I set my MAXIM plugs too much?? That's why it sounds too hot. I thought most commercial CDs are very hot also, but they don't sound distorted, but I find mine distorted a lot. Thanks for listening. If you have the time, do check out the last piece, its' an instrumental, so its a bit lighter and easy listening. Regards, [Charles] www.two-rooms.com |

Charles, distortion BAAAD. If you hear distortion back off the threshhold on Maxim....taming the signal before getting to your limiter helps. Try the C4, EQ and compression.
Timeless dreams is a nice piece but again, too loud or too limited maybe?. Remember the style and sound you´re going for, in your case, it doesn´t need to be as loud as Pantera! Let it breathe man! |

Here's a new one, guys. It's called Forward and Back. Kinda moody. But hey, I'm entitled.

Not in keeping with the title of this thread, or the intent, I'm going to post this anyway because it's interesting. This is one of several songs I did a few years ago with a songwriting partner who I still work with. We did this under contract with Wake Productions for Atlantic Records.
It's called Saints and Sinners. I wrote and arranged the song. It was produced by me and my partner Francis. It was recorded at Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, NY. Francis is the lead vocalist. The late Doug Stegmeyer, former bass player for Billy Joel is on bass. Spyros Poulos (Cathy Trocolli, Taylor Dayne, Madonna) is on keyboards. The drummer is a great session musician and friend of ours named Frank Bellucci. We didn't get the album contract, but we had fun. Download it from this page: Soundsurfr special archives Soundsurfr www.soundsurfr.com |

Wow. Chinese rap. You don't hear much of that around here.
It was fun. Thanks. Soundsurfr |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Soundsurfr,
Thanks so much for the nice words... I am listening to Saints and Sinners while writing this.... Love it. Sounds like great production work. Everything is smooth and well balanced. All parts sonically "fit" in their proper place. Vocalist is very talented...is that you? Was it recorded analog or digital? Kinda sounds like some of the older Toto stuff. Don't take that as an insult...I love the old Toto, and think that they are great songwriters. Anyway, keep up the great work, and thanks again for listening to my stuff. Cheers |

Thanks Kamurah -
Answers to your questions: Saints and Sinners was recorded on 48 track analog (Two Studer 24-track machines synched together) through an SSL board. We used all 48 tracks. (Sixteen tracks for drums, several pairs of vocal doubles, stereo piano mikes, etc.) It was mixed simultaneously to analog two-track and to DAT through a pair of Pultec compressors. The version you got was the direct-to-DAT (processed into MP3, of course). SOUND |
