Urgent: powerbook G4 purchase advice needed
 

Hey everyone, I apologize for opening another thread on this topic, but I could be making what is for me a substantial investment in a laptop tomorrow for my on-location recordings.

Please tell me if you think this is a good deal given that I only need a laptop for recording and not for mixing (plugin count is not that important). As long as I can record to 18 tracks simultaneously without CPU constraints I'm happy.

Price: $1400 Canadian ($1164 US)

15.2" Powerbook G4 (the model before the most recent dual layer, hi resolution model)
processor: 1.67 Ghz
RAM: 2 GB
HD: 100 GB 5400 rpm
video card memory: 128 MB
Apple warranty until May, 2008

My max budget is $1500 Canadian. I don't like the thought of the small macbook screen in use and I can't afford the jump to macbook pro right now. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

First of all, this is the Windows forum so you'll get a better answer over at the Mac forum. Why would you want to pay so much for a discontinued, at least two year old, non Intel, single core, not upgradable, dinosaur of a notebook? For less money, you could be sitting happy with a Macbook. You're not to far fron a MacbookPro either. Sorry if I sound cruel but buying a G4 now is a ginormous mistake.
