Windows services

Hi!

I found an interesting article (and an add-on) about deactivating unnecessary Windows services.

You can read it here
and here is the add-on

My question is: do you know which services ProTools or the soundcard really needs?
I use my PC for audio only, so no Internet, printer, scanner, aso is needed...
...so what do you think, is it worth it?

Re: Windows services

I can't find the list I used a year ago but shutting down a lot of useless items netted me very good performance on my "under $600" variation of the Allenstein. Davec score of 32+5 and it runs 32 audio plus 4 to 6 stsreo aux tracks with no major problems. Just make notes as you disable stuff so you can go back in and restore an item if something screws up.

go for it, its great. Just look for site where they tell you which service to turn off. I printed it out like 40 pages to help me. I dont know if its still online.

First I made a hardware profile for music production and another for internet use. I tell which device to disable here.

For music production I turned off a dozen services I don't really need in the admin services window. Careful stepping here because you can screw up your system seriously if you dont know what your doing. Some are obvious, others not. This took alot of trial and error and knowing your system.

Nice to have just a souped up configuration for music only.

toodles
