Analog or SPDIF ??

Hi !!

What is better to use in accuracy and quality between 003 SPDIF out and analog out to monitors with both inputs .
Ive read something on the web about the conversion but im not clear .. ( mon : Mackie HR824 )

Re: Analog or SPDIF ??

If you're talking about the 824's they do not have a spidf in. Very few monitors do because that means they would have d/a conversion inside which would add to the cost. You might be confusing RCA audio inputs with spidf which look similar but are not at all the same.

So to answer your question, you pretty much have no choice but to use the analog outs of your 003, unless you buy a separate d/a converter, and then you would also need to buy a monitor controller to give you a volume knob, mute and mono buttons, etc. There are a few products that combine this, like the Presonus Central Station or Dangerous D box.
