Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I have added a new song to my slow, but dedicated webspace. This song was basically am experiment in...feeling. I went home for lunch today, I had an hour to burn, but was feeling pretty [bleep]. So, I wrote some lyrics out, did some music, and a little beat, and slapped her together. The result is interesting. I think it sort of captures the feeling a LOT better than some of my other stuff that takes days, weeks, or even months to finish.

Love the tune...Great work with the Loops. When you first started singing, I felt the vocals needed to be a bit louder...However, after listening to the words, I see what you were aiming for. Not bad for a lunch break project... Thanks for the Listen Scott Also, I finally posted two things at my site: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/poddoc_2000 Let me know what you think... How's your bro doin' |

Jake001,
Finally got to listen.....I love em both...'Gilda' and 'Song for Julia'.....Each one is very unique and very well done. Some very fine picking on 'Gilda'(just a fine country song too), and a great vocal by Steve Dostal (I assume) on 'Julia'. Great stuff, IMO... -Roy |

Hey Dr. Jake. My bro is doing pretty good. He still cant get the rig up and running, but hes having conficts on his system, and hes been doing a lot of testing at school, so he admits he hasnt been able to fully delve into his system. He expects this weekend he should be able to get to it.
Thanks for listening to the tune. It has some interesting elements to it, including a not so perfect guitar track, but it sort of fit the chaotic 6/4 nature of the song. You probably noticed the drums are clean at the beginning, and then mutate over to really distored throughout the course of the song... Listened to both of your tracks posted. I really like the drums on Song for Julia. The voice reminds me of Erasure; which is cool, I love them. Im listening here at work, and the mixes sound very good through these speakers. So, I assume that wasnt you singing on Gilda What did you do though? All instruments and such? How is the 002 unit working out? Nice stuff, very clean sounding and mixed well. Anyway, appreciate you listening, have a good one! =-Ben |

Thanks for the listen, I appreciate it greatly. Steve (song for julia) does have a wonderful voice. He wrote, sang and played the guitar on that piece. I had him play to a click and then we sent the files to my buddy in Iowa. He programmed the drums, percussion and played the bass. He also mixed and mastered it as well. Ben: I thank you too for the listen. I have listened to your song a couple more times...I see what you mean about the drums...Great effect. I love it! I didn't notice the time signature at first (I'm not too good at that stuff) but after listening to it, I see what you mean...is that you singing? cool Voice. Those two songs were recorded at my house on the old Digi 001 as well as at my friend's houe in Iowa. he had an 001 set up as well. I usually record the acoustic instruments and vocals at my house and then send them to my friend, Mike, in Iowa. He does the bass, programs the drums (using Acid files) and adds misc. precussion and sings backup. He is also responsible for the mixing and mastering. He's got a great ear for that stuff. For the guitars I use the Octava M-012's. For the Vox I use a RHODE NT-1000 throught the Behringer vocal processor. For the Banjo and lead guitar, I used a AKG CS-1000. The snare I recorded with the RHODE. I haven't hooked up the 002 yet. I am waiting on my computer. I have it ordered and it is supposed to come this week or early next week. I can't wait. Thanks again for listenting... Scott http://briefcase.yahoo.com/poddoc_2000 |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Ben,
Very well done! I love odd time signatures. I used to play in a band that did some Rush, it was great to watch people try to dance to Subdivisions in 7/8 time! Anyway, the quickest stuff is often the best & most emotional, I guess we don't let our brains get in the way. Hope things are better now! |

Wow. That didn't suck! Can you give a few more specifics on your signal path? Is that direct out of the Boogie, or through a cab? Also, what's the Sansamp PSA-1 Plugin? Sorry if that seems like a stupid Q, but most of my experience lies on the playing side. I'm new to the PT recording thing. I've got a Boogie Quad IV preamp, a Line6 Pod Pro preamp, and a decent amount of outboard gear. Any suggestions on getting a good direct sound into the Mbox is appreciated. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
OK, so I didn't do the research first. Sorry 'bout that. I found the info on the SansAmp PSA-1 plug in online. Pretty cool.
I'd still like some more specifics about some of your other settings. Did I notice a quick stereo delay? Your stuff sounds great. |
