i manually cut out the amp buzz. and yeah, maybe i trimmed some of the guitar parts a bit to make them all end the same.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Ahhh.. now it makes sense it had to be something like that cos my initial theory "They are superhuman" was depressing me.. I have a background in metal/rock bands so I can appreciate what you're doing there. And it's very cool.

My current approach is 180 degrees in the opposite direction! the sloppier my tunes are the more I like 'em, and I positively welcome amp-buzz! I guess I'm just overreacting to the amount of control these machines give us.

(said the person who just spent 4 hours "tinkering" with a bass drum pattern)

Wow 8mmOD I like that a lot. I'm a headbanger so I definitely appreciate how tight those riffs sound

Here's a heavy one I just bounced down. (Sorry, I'm a long tme lurker, first time poster in this thread). Thanks in advance for any feedback everyone.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">thanks stevep, and in our defense, we are actually pretty tight to begin with! but when you are pushing a VHT head at high gain, it can get a bit noisey at the breaks. derek, for some reason i cant get your song to play . i'll try again later.

in case you are interested, here is a version of the same song from 3 years ago. i recorded it on 16 track tape. live drums, no track editing and yes, i used gates!

Hmmm, if that link doesn't work just go here and click Tension and Release. If it doesn't stream try saving to the hard drive.

Hey Pc users.....

I put up an mp3 along with my mp4

You should be able to download the mp3

BTW It is kinda minimal house music.

Burner, that funk track is the sicky sickums. I would like to try my hand at remixing that puppy into a kind of down tempo house beat.

let me know.

Here is the link

Thanks again for listening people...

My buddy did the rap vocal, so you can edit my credentials

All those horns were done in Reason...the horn patches on my Roland 1010 suck something fierce...

Yeah...I went a little "outside" with that solo...quite a bit of chromaticism there at the end.

Are you into Jazz? I haven't heard you play yet, but judging by your "Archtop" handle I'm guessing that you are. There is pretty cool site called www.wholenote.com where there are these add-a-track projects. People put up MP3's of backing tracks for people to download, take guitar solos on, and then post on the site. Then someone usually complies them all together in a single mp3. It's alot of fun sometimes...last night I took a pass on "Giant Steps" (a tune I've always been petrified of), and I found out (amazingly enough) that with some serious concentration and a couple hours of practice, I could actually play over these changes (of course, it helps that the track is at 120bpm!). check it out:

Giant Steps add-a-track (Rob's Solo)

I have to find that thread where you gave me the name of that DB tune for the vocal sound...I don't remember. I did download his playlist....man it's long! Some really cool innovative stuff on there though....

I'll check out that other stuff you mentioned...I'm looking forward to hearing your track, and I'll listen to the piano thing to see if I hear anything...

rock on,
