Arch -

I went a few pages back and saw that you had a tune up which everyone was digging your playing on...I wanted to listen, but the only mp3 link that seems to be on your page is the piano track.

that Jerfo dude can flat out burn, huh?

I've been working on a film soundtrack, so I thought I post a couple of rough mix clips from that (even though everything is still in a working state):

Horn Thang w/ Guitar solo

Space Funk cue

oh man I wish I didn't have to work at this stinkin' day job...I want to go home and record!!

burner- rap tune- rap isn't my thing but i liked this tune. The vocals are very smooth and easy to listen to.

Steevp- cool song funny and musical a very entertaining combo.

IntelDoc- again, very nice guitar sound I'm definately going to have to try those 319s

Burner
you got it goin' on
Arranger/DAWoperatin'/movie sountrack/rappin'/blues guitar monster

Tuba sound is super fun and real sounding.
But man some of the modes (chromatic at times ?) of the guitar solo in the horn one, was wiggin'my melon WOW

Tried to trim down my web space to get the other one on there too, but they say I'm like 4 byte's over
I'll swap it back tommorow.
Thank's for showin' interest
Roy said he'll put on something on the one there now, (you?) (anybody else)
Did you find the tune w/vocal sound from db's
site?
You gotta hear Roy's Mud Cat Blues also on db's site(I'm pretty sure Jeff Beck will be calling him asking for lesson's)
side note Jeff Beck is one of world's finest.(for feel/emotion)
Have you ever met that guy that thought he was really great , but he really sucked really bad?
I hope I'm not that guy

Wow...thank you guys for the nice feedback on my little demo. I'm flattered! I use a Godin LGXT guitar that has a built-in interface for Roland's synth gear, so the guitar sound is a combination of an "amped" sound on a VG-88 and a synth sound on an old-ish GR-1. I also ran the bass track through the VG-88 against a customized Marshall distortion patch with the wah pedal engaged about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way. By combining the clean and distorted/filtered bass tracks, I got a decent distorted bass sound without it being too muddy.

I played the drums on my ddrum4 kit, so I guess that this was a completely "virtual" song. There wasn't a single acoustic or amplified sound on it.

Oh, and Jeff Beck is absolutely one of my favorites. He can play one note and have it mean more than a hundred of mine. Of course, that won't stop me from playing those 100 notes any time soon.

PS I echo the sentiments of all the recent posts about Burner, Archtop, Steevp, and eveybody else's recently posted material...good stuff!

8mmOD- man those guitars are thick. I think if you could get the drums to cut through a little more it would help give the song a bit more pop. I think if you drench the snare with reverb at the very beginning it might sound cool. Anyway, cool song.

Wow.. next time I play an 8mmOD song I'll make sure I don't have the monitors at the levels I mix my slight little tunes on.. that thing almost re-arranged my walls!

Fantastic sonic range there 8mm.. how do you get it all locked together so tightly? practise or gates?

I find it totally inspiring hearing what other people are up to with much the same gear as me.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">thanks for listening guys! this is still a rough mix. i just have a tiny bit of reverb and compression accross the entire drums, which are by no means completely "dialed in" yet. the whole mix is pretty dry as far as fx right now, and i am still working on the guitar sound. its gettin' there! thanks for the suggestions as well.

well practice always helps, and i didnt use any gates! but at every stop, i manually cut out the amp buzz. and yeah, maybe i trimmed some of the guitar parts a bit to make them all end the same. also, ever since we hired Roland C. Kwenser as our studio drummer, our mixes have really tightened up as well!
