2022 Macbook Air
 
It's rumoured the new 2022 MBA's will have the M2 chip and 16 GB RAM...
...but will it natively run PT and all third party plugins?



We may have to wait for the 2023+ models to upgrade

It’s not the MacBook model you have to wait for. It’s porting the software to run natively on Apple silicon that you have to wait for. Even so, by many reports, running via Rosetta2 is no slouch.

This is not quite the situation. I moved to a silicon Mac on Monterey and it has been brilliant for 2 months now. Using it about 40 hours a week, I had one crash that was down to a bad usb drive. It’s not qualified, but no real problem running under Rosetta.

The real frustration is the plugins that won’t work. For me that is mainly the Avid Complete bundle, but I took the leap anyway.
