More Prefs for a more customizable Pro Tools!
 

Hey guys,

I know there are TONS of people using PT in SO many different ways...Post, mastering, mixing, editing, tuning, comping, etc. not only that, but some use mostly MIDI, others don't, some use key commands, others use the mouse/smart tool. What I've noticed is that SO many new features added (especially in the multiple tool functions...ie. Time Expansion/contractions tool), it sometimes hinders your workflow.

I edit just about 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, and every second saved is HUGE! However, a lot of the new features or functions tend to kill my workflow. I think there should be more prefs to allow the user to customize PT to the way they like to work.

For example, I use the Fkeys to switch my tools...this is VERY fast for me. however, the additional tools KILL my workflow. I have to undo the affects of the TE/C crop tool MANY times every day. If there were a pref to lock out the multifunction tools for the Fkeys, that would save me SO much time!

Anyway, please respond with suggestions and let me know if this is a good, valid idea.

Trust me, I have sent over 200 of these requesting a lock on the multi-functions. I have been asking for this since 7.0! It would save me HOURS A WEEK!

Learn a scripting language and start creating your own custom macros and key assignments. It's the only way to customize PT at this point. The Skunk Works link in my signature will show you the many things that can be done. I burn through my edits like no one else. :D :D

...and take many early breaks. :D

I believe, & I could be wrong or they may have it now for Mac, but it is a PC thingy...But go to that thread & ask those brainiacs...they may be able to cook up a Mac-antidote...
