Insert Time But Ignore Some Clips/Tracks?

Anyone know if it's possible to lock certain clips from insert/cut time?

I always assumed either the edit/time lock function did this but doesn't see to work for me

Hmmm, I'm not aware of a way to do this. What's the end goal here? Maybe Insert Time is not the right tool? In any case, its pretty easy to move a few clips afterwards. In all the times I have used this function, I haven't had the need to exclude anything(but of course, your needs may be different:D).

well the end goal is editing a cue for a film (like if you get a new reel)-- if you can cut time on everything but the video and guides it would make things WAY easier!

I think the current best way to do this is to hide the tracks you want to protect just before the Cut/Insert Time operation, then unhide them.

Here's a quick method for that:

Create two memory locations — not as markers, but the kind that saves the state of visible tracks. (In the New Memory Location popup, select Time Properties > None, and General Properties > check Track Visibility).

One memory location shows all tracks, and the other hides the tracks you want to protect from the Cut/Insert Time operation.

Ideally these memory locations are numbers 1 and 2. You make your selection, then use the memory location shortcut to hide the tracks you want to protect (on the numpad press . then 1 (or whichever memory location number you set it to be) then . again).

Do the Cut/Insert Time operation, then use the shortcut for the other memory location to show the hidden tracks again.

Make a group with all the tracks except video and guide.
