De Vinci Resolve AAFs and ProTools?
I'm wondering what is the current state of play with importing AAFs from De Vinci Resolve in to ProTools. I be leave that previously there were sync problems. Is the import working properly? The video editors I work with are looking at moving from Premier to De Vinci because of some issues they are having. We are currently running PT 2022.5

Hi there, I receive DR AAFs from various editors and I've not seen any problems. What are the sync issues that you've been referred to?

Re: De Vinci Resolve AAFs and ProTools?
It's been working for me with the latest v17 release and v18 beta. Earlier versions were indeed broken.
Some of the same things to watch out for as Premiere. Track type/width, speed changes... I'll try to think of more if I can. I have not tried it recently for any long form work where I need to relink to production sound. I only use what's in the AAF. So I'm not sure on the current working status of that. |
Re: De Vinci Resolve AAFs and ProTools?
Thanks, good to here. I always have them send me the audio imbedded in the AAF so we might be ok.

Re: De Vinci Resolve AAFs and ProTools?
Embedded AAF's are the key. Problem with getting an AAf with an associated audio folder is that the reference to the files in the audio folder is always wrong, seemingly because the export from the video edit renames these files, therefore losing their reference to the AAF when importing to Pro Tools... or at least that's what's happened to me in the past when an editor sends a "non-embedded" AAF. (Or OMF for that matter)

Re: De Vinci Resolve AAFs and ProTools?
I just filed a case with Avid.
Had issues with linked media and AAF from DaVinci. ProTools would open the AAF fine, but after saving and reopening the session the audio inside the clips would shift. very dangerous. |
