Waves 12.7/Mac OS 10.15.7/PT 2021.7

Has anyone else had problems with this combination? As soon as I upgraded to Waves 12.7 I had SBBOD issues every 20 seconds while editing. Downgraded Waves to 12.0 and it's better but still sluggish with opening Pro Tools and large sessions. Have done the whole remove/reinstate plugins dance, and ascertained that Waves is the culprit.

How many wave shell’s in your AAX plugin folder?
I have 2 after a clean install. 12.7 & 12.8
Before Clean install of waves I had accumulated 8 different wave-shell’s
V10, v11 for old session compatibility and 12.0, 12.2, 12.5, 12.6

Mercury-classic, Abbey Road, NX

No problem with that here.

I also only have two Waveshells after a clean install. 12.6 & 12.7

I had too many Waves shells before my plugins all went to V12. I was hoping for just one Waveshell thereafter, but it seems that's not how it works!

Are you sure the beach balls are Waves related? You could double-check by disabling the Waves plugins in the Session or just removing the Waves shells from the plugins temporarily at Pro Tools start?

For sure, Waves plugins look at the authorisation on instantiation and maybe periodically in use? It's slightly slower on my system as they reside on a USB stick. The beach balls relate to waiting for drive or networks I think.
