Fader drops to -69.1 when selecting track in Edit View
 

So this may be a "new to PT" issue but I can't figure it out and searches aren't bringing up anything helpful.

The issue is just as stated in the title, whether or not play back is happening or based on tape head position. There is no (intentional) automation on the tracks. When I'm in Edit view I select by clicking on the track name and the fader value plumets. It seems to be "fixed" this time by switching to Mix view and then back again.

You haven't mentioned anything you have tried, so at least try this: Set the track(s) so automation is turned off and see if that helps anything.
