Low level out on Mbox Pro, anyone..?

When playing a "-18dBFS / 1kHz" sinus tone through any of the 4 line outputs, it delivers:

-14dBu / 0.150V -UNBALANCED-
http://picasaweb.google.com/zilvers/...44173103116274

where I beleive it should be either "0dBu / 0.775V" according to the EBU R68 standard or "6dBu / 1.55V" according to the SMPTE RP155 standard. And Balanced..

I have tested 2 different Mbox Pro's & 3different Mac's, and it's the same story, but it's the correct level if I use the S/PDIF output through a D/A converter.

I have also tested a 003 and it delivers the correct voltage "0dBu / 0.775V" although it's still unbalanced according to the Minilyzer ML1.

Am I misunderstanding something here?

Or does anyone else have problems with the Mbox Pro ouput level, or maybe any of the other Mbox products?

Hope someone will have time to test or explain.

Best regards

Well, if you look at the spec for the MBox2 it says "Max output is +4" with a "Max input of +21" So looks like the regular MBox2 is a -10 output operating level. As far as the MBox Pro.... it doesn't really say anything about the output other than it's "sensitivity is 4V"... which is hard to tell.....
I'm guessing it's a -10 output operating level as well......
Doesn't affect the quality of sound.. just a lower voltage output.

Thanks for your reply.

It's true that it looks like a -10 operating level, but why does it appear unbalanced?

Also it might not affect the quality of the audio, but it's a problem when connecting and alligning with almost any other "pro" piece of equipment.

yes, For me the output levels seems to be lower, but i dont have any measure tool. what can i tell you is that i have m-audio reference monitors, and I also have a m-audio 2496 audiophile. after buying mbox 2 pro I noticed an important change of output monitoring levels. To deal with this diference, I had to put monitoring level fader in mbox to 85% (0db in pro tools output) and maudio monitors level fader to 75% (normally I used 65 to 70% with audiophile).
I also dont know why ¿?
hope it helps
