Question: Firewire HD transfer between XP and OS X
Howdy,
I've got quite a bit of auido files on a Windows Machine that I'd like to transfer to an OS X machine. Rather than burning ENDLESS CDR's or network the two machines (different studios) I was wondering if there was a way for XP and OS X to share a firewire drive? Does anyone know if it's possible to plug firewire drives into XP and OS X? Has anyone been able to do this? I think you can format a firewire drive w/ FAT32 on OS X... and I'm pretty sure Windows XP supports that... but not sure if PTLE does... anyway... Anyone have any experiences in this departement? thanks in advance, AJ |

It is my understanding that you can do this in Panther.

Bender,
Can you be a bit more specific? Thanks, AJ |

if you have it working in xp plugging it into osx shouldn't be too much of a trouble...

FAT32 formatted drives are compatible with both macs and PC's.

Re: Question: Firewire HD transfer between XP and
I suggest installing Mac Opener 2000 from Data Viz on your PC. This software will allow your to format your firewire drive as an HFS extended drive from your PC. It will work as if it was a PC formated disk when connected to your PC and since it is formated as an HFS disk it will work seamlessly with your Mac. This will allow you to go back and forth between the two systems.
