What did I do with my Timeline?

1 Attachment(s)
Ok so I have slowly been switching over to Win 10 and have PT 2020.12 working perfectly on both laptops but after upgrading my desktop to Win 10 and doing a clean install of PT vanilla 2020.12 for some reason i don't have any numbers on my timeline and selections in the edit window don't highlight nor do i have the transport line. What did I turn off? Is this something in windows or PT? The only thing i purposely changed was going from dark mode to classic.

Please help, i couldn't find anything online or in the PT Ref

I want to say that I've seen this once. But I don't remember what I did to fix it.

Did you try doing a full reboot and trashing your prefs? Maybe something left over from the previous install.

Yeah did all the standard stuff. I'm sure it's something I did by accident, just can't for the life of me figure out what:confused:

That's weird for sure and I've never seen it. If trashing prefs doesn't help, the next 2 things to try(for me) would be:
1-update graphics drivers
2-uninstall Pro Tools and re-install*

*if you have not done this yet, you might be confused on why you can't uninstall PT from the Apps and Features menu. The trick is to dig deeper. Near the upper-right corner of the Apps and features menu is another link named Programs and features. Click that link and let the next window have 20 seconds or so to fully load. On that list, you can scroll to Avid Pro Tools, right-click and select Change. In the next window, you will get some options on how much you want to remove(if you see an option to also remove the HD driver, do that).

What if you add another ruler? Do the numbers come back?

Re: What did I do with my Timeline?

I have uninstalled, re-installed and added all timelines and removed them, changed the tempo and no change.
I suspect the graphics software is the problem and i tried changing from the Nvidia to the Intel and back but no luck.

I will try uninstalling and re-installing graphics drivers and make sure to have the latest. I am using two Dell 27" monitors and as far as i can tell that's really the only difference between the desktop and the laptops which haven't lost the numbers using the exact same sessions.

The thing that gets me is that i have no cursor and selections wont "high light"

There was a time when using scaling in Windows would cause problems in Pro Tools.

But if the previous version was working, probably not it.

You could check to see if Compatibility Mode is on
