Beach ball in markers, select all, etc.

2020.3 is mostly snappy, but has anyone else noticed laggy beach balls when you drop a marker, select ALL groups and copy paste, etc? Is my template just too large? Just under 1300 tracks...

That's large. What are your system specs? You don't give any; might be underpowered.

With a session as large as that, it is good to try setting automation off for all tracks (with the option key) and only enable on the tracks where you need it.

Sorry, this hasn’t happened with previous updates. I have a MP 6,1 12-core 128GB RAM so nothing weak although not top of line. I have about 1000 of the tracks deactivated as I have a composition template and a audio post mix template “all in one.” So the whole compose folder stays deactivated when I am
working on audio post.

Have you done all the optimizations necessary?
What vi's do you have loaded in your composition template?

Still not full specs - you could put them on your profile page. All ssd's?

I have done the optimzations. No VIs. All SSDs. It used to be snappy.

Please see it in action here.

There is a black circle around my cursor when I click. Please play close attention to when I click. Before all groups are enabled my session is very snappy and fast. After I enable all groups (as you see in the video at :22 seconds), the session becomes very laggy. The reaction time after I click and when Pro Tools registers becomes very slow.

Anyone notice same thing or have a solution?

PT 2020.5, but was also happening on 2020.3.

Ever since Sierra I have had to ask this question more and more often: have you clean installed your OS or upgraded?

My OS shown in the attachment 10.14.6 and I haven't clean installed in over a decade. This issue happens on my work and home computers which are not a clone of each other, but both on 10.14.6. I can send you the .ptx if you'd like to take a look.
