Re: Recommendations Needed For An SSD
Just a little different angle:
I had PT10 on a mac pro 3.1 and osx 10.7.5 up until a few years ago. At one point I bought my first ssd (OWC 6G extreme pro) and just plugged it directly into a sata port. Gave me roughly 70gb/s speed. Then I bought a Sonnet PCIe adapter card with two slots (less than $100) and put the SSD on that, and I had read/write speeds of a little over 400gb/s. It made a big difference. Faster boot, app launch, everything felt much snappier. Gave the old mac new life. I know nothing about NVMe, and I guess 400gb/s is very modest compared to those. My point is it can be done easily, without changing OS, and very inexpensively. |

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have plenty of great info to work with now. :-)
