Post-C&C Custom Mapping questions

Great stuff today, Jeff (+Gil) - everything was very interesting.

A couple questions..

1) will Attention Presets be an official system page of soft keys in the real release? I noticed it was a user page in your presentation..

2) I was unclear on the storage of maps in session vs system - if you make a map for a plugin is it only for the plugin in that session or can it be stored generically? And is it for just a plugin instance or all the plugin instances in the session?

Display settings soft key page was definitely needed.. I see you're branching out the shift-[x] soft key pages into more real estate - still got all the other buttons around the transport knob to fill up :D

Thanks very much for stopping by! There's some really great new functionality that I believe everyone is going to benefit from. I'm happy to go into excruciating detail on these and other bits in the release, but I want to wait until everything is finalized first. We are very close. Stay tuned.

best,

Jeff

Re: Post-C&C Custom Mapping questions

Attention Presets are in there, yes, and they are a creation intended for user customization. Essentially, they are each a simple series of 5 surface settings in order to define what function (EQ, Dyn, Sends, etc.) is populated on the most important sections of the console on Attention: Knob1, Knob2, Faders, MTM, and the Knob Module to place data on when clicked from the DAW. Again, there are some great starting settings here -> but they are designed to be tweaked for your best workflow.

There are options under the Settings > System > Auto-Load section of the Master Module to include Custom Maps with the Session file. As long as the WS and associated app (Pro Tools 21 Mac) has a Blue Star associated, any maps you create will be saved with the session.

Once you create Custom Maps you can access them on any track or location in the session, and the maps work regardless of the width - which was in issue with legacy plug-in maps back in the Digidesign days. So - you can use Altiverb Mono or Altiverb 5.1 for example, and they will still use the same map.

Because maps are saved in the session file, you can certainly at any time perform a Save as Template from Pro Tools to place the working session structure with custom maps into your Startup folder.

Hope this clarifies things.

best,

Jeff

Please provide us with a link to the official release thread, when it's out. I'm not sure where you normally posting this information? :)
Thank you.
