MBox / ProTools Trouble...
I'm new to recording and I've just recently set up an MBox with the included ProTools 6.4. However when I try to play anything back, it often stops and says that "Audio processing is conflicting with other CPU tasks". I have updated ProTools, ended every non-necessary process, and tried every option presented in the manual. I'm running XP Pro, an Athlon 64 3200+, a gig of ram and a 200GB DiamondMax Internal HD. Is my computer insufficient for ProTools? Will getting an external Audio-only drive help this? Thanks alot, Chris.

Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
Are you using a lot of plugins in the session you are trying to playback? Also set "Open ended Record allocation" in preferences to 10 minutes.

Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
no, im not using any plugins.

Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
Have you set your CPU usage in PT's to 85% and changed Open Ended Record Allocation?
|
Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
yep. in the system usage window it doesnt ever get past about 10%.

Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
I mean have you set both those preferences? If so,do you have all antivirus and crap disabled. What about other soundcards and what is your video card?

Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
ive tried it with my LAN disabled, firewall disabled, Anti-virus disabled. Video card is an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256, sound is an audigy 2 ZS. ive disabled the sound card too, still no difference.
and yeah, i set both of the preferences. |
Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
Primary culprits can be ( after regular tweaks are done ) the onboard audio device, and the NIC..
Disable, and try again... |
Re: MBox / ProTools Trouble...
I've got a SOYO CK8-Dragon Plus Motherboard in right now with the nForce 3 chipset overclocking at 200mhz. would i get better performance out of an Asus K8V SE deluxe?
