LE controller comparison: Command 8 vs 003 fader box
I'm going to be buying an LE 003 system for post work. I'd like to ask about comparing the controller features of the Command 8 vs the 003 factory controller box. Specifically using the unit as a controller for editing and mixing, rather than as an audio mixer/monitor device. (I'm using a Mackie mixer and the Tascam surround controller).
I have used the Command 8 a few times and was pretty happy with the fader feel and response. But I've heard that the Command 8 is similar to the 002 fader box, so I'm wondering if the 003 fader box is a step up from the Command 8? |
Re: LE controller comparison: Command 8 vs 003 fader box
Yup - the 003 has quite a few new features that aren't on a Command|8.
Being able to switch automation modes on the surface is a big one for me. Able to focus on EQ/Dyn plugs quickly and even instantiate plugs from the surface, which is nice. The jog shuttle wheel is also good. Hope that helps! |

Nicer fader caps on the 003!

Thanks for the reply Brent. Sounds like the 003 is the way to go. And it's probably better having everything in one box anyway.

You could also try the Frontier Design Alpha Track if you have a limited budget or space on the desk. Or a Mackie HUI.
