Hey Dude, I really like your track. It sounds like a mix of Rammstein and The Killers. You are definitely in a good directions. The only thing i would add is a "bassy" background to it and maybe another layer of some powerful drums. But that is just my taste.

Great job!!!

Got a couple new ones up on my player. Been mixing for a client out of Florida and really like where this record is going.

The 2 songs after the first were done in the studio. Really happy with those but still need to mix them. DOH

New am I to Pro Tools

This is my first Pro Tools song:

http://mosheskier.com/mp3/Nachamu%20MSB.mp3

I initially recorded a bass to a click, then had my drummer come in later to do live drums.

Guitar is going through a Line 6 UX2 connected via SPDIF.

Bass direct after an MXR Direct Box (best bass sound EVUH)

Drums with 4 mics; Kick, SM 57 snare (picking up too much HH but the drummer didn't let me position it the way I wanted) and 2 OH SM 94s.

Keyboard is XPand!

Vocal with C414 direct into Digi003R. Using all default compressors and eq's.

No pitch correction (obviously), if anyone can recommend a good one, let me know.

Hello everyone,

I posted some unmastered demos http://www.myspace.com/michaelrahlfs. I hope I did that link properly. Anyway, the songs were all done on a 003 and are basically just me messing around on the guitar.

Comments please.

Thanks.

Anyone wanna hear some new stuff done on an 002?

www.thearchitectsound.com

self produced, self engineered, in PTLE 7.3 002 and mixed and mastered in HD. some use of line6 vetta, toneport, vintech preamps, and modest mics.

This is streamed so the quality isn't entirely the best, but it should avail on iTunes in a week or so.

mixed and mastered at martell productions (myspace.com/stanmartell)

Re: Let's hear your latest stuff....right here

I mixed all the songs posted on my page for various clients of mine (I'm not the artist, just an engineer!): www.myspace.com/marcfrigo.

The first two tracks, "My Burden" and "Headstrong" were actually mixed on my new HD 2 Accel system running on a Mac Pro.

The last 4 tracks, "Parasite", "Draw Me Nearer", "Hubris", and "King of You" were all mixed on my PTLE system running on a PC.

I know the stream off myspace is not the best audio quality, but you can probably get the idea!

I came up with a great mix of The Crystal Methods soon to be released album.

http://firepostdigital.dyndns.org/Do...wn_dynamic.mp3

Please cast your vote for my mix. It is the best mix there.
At the Remixing protools contest on www.fuzz.com
the contest closes tomorrow (Sept 30th 2008) at 12 noon EST.
It is free to sign up, you only need to enter an email address and create a password and then you are a fuzz dot com member.

I am MySoundEditor on page 5 of the remix list.
http://www.fuzz.com/contest/remixing...allery?&page=5

again you just click on the empty star beside my remix to vote. It will ask you to sign up and you only need to give them your email and create a password. They will not spam you and are a partner of digidesign in this contest. Fuzz is a great new site to showcase your own music too.
You could have won a free subscription to remix magazine, but you needed to vote three days in a row to receive that and the time has run out.

Please listen to and vote for my mix. It is the best mix there.
I have been using protools since 1994 and need a new 003 interface, awarded for top votes received in the remix category.
Any last minute votes would be appreciated.

: D

Marc,

Really enjoyed this. Good mixes and nice arrangment of "Draw Me Nearer". Good female vocal...sounds a little like Kathy Trocolli.

I like it...

I think the vocals sound a bit dry..

maybe compress a bit more..
more reverb maybe too.

i really like it though.

Okay, here's my first try at posting.
http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=223243651
The link I'm posting is to my client's myspace;I worked on both of the songs posted, but I'm probably more happy with the first. This is a client of mine's original song.I recorded and mixed everything and played guitars, keys, and bass. This is on my Digi002 running PT LE 7,mixed on my Mackie MR8 monitors.Oh,and the final will have a faster fade out;I just guess the client likes the long fade some reason:)

For anyone who's interested in this type of thing....

Ran the PA for a local brass band concert on Saturday. So I took along the mbox and very roughly threw a couple of mics up to record it.

You can hear a sample of the result here http://www.oneearthproductions.net/wcb

comments on the mix?

This is a link to a cover tune that my band does. Long time lurking first time posting here.

I'm interested in any comments, especially those on the mix balance. I have a hard time gettting the vocals to "sit" right in the mix for my tastes.

Anyway thanks for any input.

PT7.3LE
drums - EZ Drummer
bass, organ - XPand
guitar - my strat and a Boss GT8
Vocalist - Kristin Kay
DVerb, PT 7 band EQ ( a little boost at 5K for her vocals), PT compressor on the vocals

I'm no expert, so take it only as one man's opinion. Sounds like you're close but you're right - it doesn't quite have the total thing going on. Here's what I would try, if you still have the tracks available:
  • Something seems awry in the reverb dept. Maybe too much, maybe too much early reflections. Or it may be the room you are recording in coming through. Try going back to dry, mix it, and only after that sneek up the reverb until you just hear it then back it off a notch. To me, this type of tune could play well pretty dry, but again it depends on the artistic intent.
  • If a more commercial sound is what you desire, I would try more compression/limiting on the vocal. This would even it out some and give it a harder drive. Overly-compressed vocals are all the rage nowadays, for better or worse. But like the reverb, if you're obviously hearing it's effect then you probably need to back it off.
Just a couple of things to try. Keep going, you're almost there!

Have not posted on here in awhile. Have a few new ones up and a fun little "warmup session" video that I sync'd up to the tracking. Band needs to break in their drummer so they wanted a rough live set. Found the camera, started filming and now it is all over.

www.myspace.com/monumentsound

If the player does not show up, refresh (it will) and then shut it off. Have not figured out how to make it NOT play just yet. Or, check the blog.

This is my very first mix ever... I'm a noob but here it is:

http://www.thebuffalochips.com/pault/

Draft 2 is ok.. I'm still lost on creating the perfect mix with the vocals (it cuts at one point due to some mic problems that didn't show up till later).. opinions and harsh critiques are welcome!

BTW this isn't me... it's one of my friends who is letting me record him remotely.
