how to delete guitar noise before and after solos

hi , im new to pro tools m powered and i was wondering how you go about muting string noise etc from the start and end of overdubs. every time i try to do, this the recorded part seems to move within the song, there fore being out of time. is there any way you can just silence parts of tracks?

Re: how to delete guitar noise before and after so

You need to switch edit modes; you're in "shuffle" mode, which moves the region after you delete sections of it. Use "slip" mode.

You might also want to breeze through the reference guide; it's available from the help menu within protools, from the start menu, and free online HERE. It's a good way to learn these basic functions of the program.
