Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

roy, thanks for listening. the tunes were all recorded in a bar in my home town. we had a company come with their "bus recording studio thing" they ran lines out to the bus and used some room mics as well. i have yet to unmute the room mics and the overheads. those are my favorites as well. the show was originally recorded on DA-88 tapes, i finally got them this past summer and dumped them down into protools 8 tracks at a time. (at two sets at an hour and 45 minutes, that took me 23 hours to drop them all in and burn them onto disks, so i could bring them home) i didnt have my 001 yet, and had to do it at the studio, and could only rent one tascam DA-88 machine from the local music store. all together, there will be 25 or 26 songs, ane being a cover of billie jean (woohoo). as i work on more songs, i will be uploading them to that site, once my internet connection stops crapping out. thanks to all who have listened. Hi folks,

I recorded my new album This Time at home on a DIGI 001 / WinXP (except drums, recorded at Actiondale Recorders ), and mixed at Nickel & Dime in Atlanta on a Pro Tools 5.1 Mix Plus system.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Nuk - Listened to "Somehow". I don't mean to be critical, but the dude needs some autotune! The mix sounds clean, tho - the vocal mike on the rapper is really good.

I couldn't figure out the off-beat rythmn thing in the intro. Is it me?

I listened to the first 'snippet' of each song. My favorite is definitely 'Motorhead March', but I also like the intro on 'Mech Wander'(and the piece itself). I like the guitar sound and energy on 'Skate Bored' too.
It's interesting that 'Beach Bum' actually has a little more sound presence than some of the other songs that are meant to sound 'heavier'. It almost sounds like it was recorded and mixed a little differently than most of the others.

But, very good job, man! Best of luck on the project, and keep us posted...

Thanks, Roy

p.s.I'm looking forward to hearing the rest soon.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

thanks so much Roy, I really appreciate it.

Beach Bum was in fact recorded mixed and mastered separate from the other tunes. Originally I had mastered it at a lower volume since it was meant to sound ¨older¨, my boss didn´t agree so I remastered it and it came out like that. You can order a copy for review from Promusic (800-322-7879, ask for Mike Spitz and tell him Jorge sent ya)
The CD is not for sale (not that you´d want to buy it LOL), its meant to be licensed as indivudual tracks but you can review the CD for free for 30 days or so....

Off to visit my mom.

Thanks again, C-ya!

I have posted the latest song I'm working on to my FTP site at:

ftp://207.195.68.43/AW%20Footage/Sha...0-%20Anger.mp3

I have a rotating IP with my DSL connection so if the IP doesn't work, please post a message and I will post an updated IP address.

Some info on the song:
Recorded on my PT Free system (Dell PIII 500 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 20 GB HDD (Audio), Sound Blaster Live Value card), Drums programmed using FruityLoops 3.55 with Bitbeatz drum samples

Please post any comments...thanks a million.

Than should get you into the directory to get the file.

My apologies for any grief & inconvenience.

The album is not for sale, however if you´re in the US you can order it for a 30 day trial (yes, really)and have it delivered to your door for free. You will be asked to return it after the trial period. The CD is meant to be canned music to be licensed by production companies so you´ll just need to say you´ll be editing a video or whatever......there´s no obligation.

for more info go here:

www.promusic-inc.com

my CD is AB-CD 105 HARDCORE, PUNK AND METAL.

you can also call my bud Mike Spitz, 800-322-7879 he´s the sales director there, really cool guy.

cheers!

METALTIM, i just heard big wheat and thought i would offer a critique! good song writing and production techniques! it sounds like you are learning alot about recording! it is a nice clean
mix on my monitors! the song itself could use some work to bring up the overall excitement level. the vocals could be retracked with a little more soul for example, maybe some subtle
guitar lead on the verse parts! you have a good base to work with on this production! this is just my opinion and the most important thing is you wrote the song for your self! later, tim,

Got to listen to a few...

Mark/Aussie169!
Whoa! Beautifully engineered song, man...everything is clear as can be, and I love the way you spread things so well. Drums sound great (I thought maybe the snare sounded familiar, , but I think I was wrong, correct?)you always work with great, unique singers, and this one is no exception. Her voice has quite a personality. It made me want to play on the song, too... Great job!

Clutch,
I really enjoyed the song. Very different and warm feel to it. That piano sound was perfect for the song, I think. Very nice. Thanks for posting it for us...

Rational Punk,
Simply a great job. You don't just record a song, you 'paint' it. I'm not only impressed with your overall structure, but also by your use of killer sounds, even in some instances to just highlight this spot or that. Great instrumentation throughout... very cool time thing going on too. I really enjoy listening to your songs, so please keep em coming...

Thanks for letting me listen.... ~Roy

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Thanks for the compliments Roy.
Yes, you should recognise the snare... actually the whole kit. I try to change the tonalities of the samples on each track with eq, reverb etc. so they don't all sound the same.

Going to replace the bass guitar. That is only a scratch track done by the guitarist who is only just starting to pick the bass up. John (Men At Work) Rees is coming over in the next few weeks to put some bass on a few tracks for us. He also plays exceptional violin. Will probably record real drums on it too at some stage.

Downloading Goblins as I'm typing, will give it a listen later.

Nice work as usual Roy. Very "creepy"
The top end clarity is quite stunning. I don't have anything in my studio that even produce those frequencies. (Looking at "Spectral View" in real Player).
Is the lead line done on a guitar? Lovely playing if it is.

Let me know if I can ever help you out with any vocal tracks.

roy, that song is great man. spooky tune. i agree that the hi end is like a crystal ball, i dont get how you can obtain that crispness. even the fact that it is 128 kbps, it keeps it's clarity. i really dig the guitar melody line, cool vibe...dig it.

hey aussie,

i dig the tune. i really like the electric guitar's sound. it's very fresh, and i like the harmonizing vocals. i also like the seperate acoustic lines, they keep throwing your attention back and forth. great job, take it easy.

generation m,
great mix. everything is sitting in its own spot really nicely. the low end is good and full, without being jumbled up, and the high end keeps it's clarity as well. those vocals jump out at you, just right. i cant seem to get that where i want it on my mixes, but you've nailed it. great job on the mix. take care.

Hello Fellow DUC'ers.
I have a version of Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence that I am working on. I know on the first verse there are a few off key spots, and when I learn how to handle them vocally, I will re-sing and repost, but if anyone would like to listen to the song as it is now(complete less the 1st verse) then go right ahead. If you want to avoid hearing the sour notes, play it loud!

The link is here:
http://Basstardz.dhs.org/enjoy.mp3

My thanks to DaBasstard for hosting this, as he was kind enough to understand the MP3.com-and-Cover-song situation.

Thanks Again!
Enjoy!
