DarkShade: Wow! I'm blown away! "Sleepy Moon" reminds me of a drive through an autumn wonderland at dusk.. the leaves are changing colors, the sun is going down, and the full moon is coming up. Perfect song, I give it 8 thumbs up. (p.s. - The guitar harmonic that you hit occassionaly is the sweetest I've ever heard.. it gives me goosebumps every time I listen!)

"Goblin Moon" is fantastic, too, very experimental, I love it. Akin to what I love listening to, lots of IDM and experimental rock like Radiohead, Broadcast, etc. Very inventive! I love it!

Keep up the good work! I'll download some more of your stuff when I'm not at work.

Vertigo,
Thanks for the complements on my songs. 'Dark Shade' and I aren't the same person. I think he posted some things toward the beginning of this thread. Just so you'll know, if you'll click on the last page of this thread (currently p.126), it'll bring you to the latest posts.
Thanks, and welcome to the DUC...post some of your own 'stuff' when you can...

I'm hoping there's gonna more on-line collaboration this year. Good things come from it. There's so much talent out there, and it's very simple to do. Somebody else can help you complete something you have that's good, but unfinished (which we all have).
My schedule is full right now, but there should be plenty of artist/writers for you collaborate with here.

Hey,

I don't know how many of you guys read ProSound Web, (does big red button still write his column for them?) but they have something going on that we could kind of mimic here.

A sort of informal contest? Possibly geared toward various skills; editing, midi and drum programming, etc.

anyone interested?

Hey folks,

About a week or so ago I posted a link to http://www.globetraxters.com - I ran across it in a Line 6 forum.

But it is an awesome place for organizing collaboration projects. You can set up a project with your idea and either recruit specific instrumental talent (using their talent search) or you can ask for folks to submit ideas. There are folks out there from all over the world who play drums, guitar, bass, banjo, B3, horns, lyricists, vocalists, etc. just waiting for a project to help out with.

da BaSsTaRd! (DJ-3plet) has some cool stuff goin on as I type this. Check it out.

roy's guitars totally put my song together - he hit the nail on the head with his parts. globetraxters is awesome. the latest is almost complete. just got to lay down vox on that one.

roy, i see you haven't become a member yet (of globetraxters). i can see why you're hesitating, though. everyone is going to invite you to play on every single project...

tito - impressed again. like i said, ipod-worthy...

Bigassbeats...nice job, I like the downtempo feel of the track. Cool vocal effect to. I might work on eqing it a bit. To me it sounds a little muddy. Good song otherwise.

I did this recording for a friend who play in a coverband... They wanted to record something so they could get more shows...

Please tell me what you think and lead me in the right direction...

ROUGH MIX = took me 10min/song to do and the MIX 1 is my first try to mix the song... I hopefully get some comments here and can do a good job in the end..

Hi, I'm relatively new to this forum and haven't downloaded anyone else's stuff yet (although I plan on it). I have a site with all of my compositions on it. Visit Three Smitten Minstrels for my one man band named "Three Smitten Minstrels". Rather misleading group name don't you think?

If you are too lazy to visit my site (which has four songs on it) then here is a link to direct download of my latest song which I call "Round & Round It Goes". Its my first even close to rock sounding song. The rest of my stuff has sounded more techno since that is easier in some respects to compose.

Please give me your comments and as I'm sure that some of you have quite a lot of expertise, please suggset maybe some techniques or something that I could use to improve the quality of my recordings. It would also be nice if someone suggested to me a book that they read that really influenced their recording life and made their skills "take off" so to speak.

Here is the link to my rock song. If this is all you look at then download my latest song here .

Thank you very much.
smittenminstrelben.

Hi, everybody.

It’s been a while since I was last here.
I was a "DUC-junkie" for a long time and I guess I just had enough for a while.

Anyway, me and my band just finished mixing and mastering four songs:
web page
The lyrics are in norwegian, but I hope it wont put you off.
Everything was done on a Digi001.

Ben.

Hi Ben, I also haven't been around for a long time. I had to step back a bit a re-group.

Your songs sound great. I remember the first song from a year or so ago.

About 3 months ago I finally upgraded and am running OSX etc.

So now I'm feeling like laying down some toons again, don't know why I stopped, like I said, I just had to re-group. I hope I can post some of the outcome soon.

Oh yeh, now I remember. My new studio (that I was so happy about at first) has very dirty power and a bad RF interferance from the CN tower. I'm still working on that.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Ok here's some thoughts on what you buggers have been working on!
Nice work kids! Any girls in here? Too many boys!!

Kitana One - Right on with the Psy-Trance vibe. Love the use of samples.
I wish it would build up a bit more. Full-on as they as. But the breakbeats are real cool.
Good work!

Tito & the Pactastics - Wow...this is real clever. I grew up with Pac-Mac. Interestingly enough,
those video games are some of the first electronic music that I was aware of. So this is perfect.
I like the way the beat keeps shifting. This is something I need to work on in my music.

Gene in the Forest - Beautiful. Sounds great echoing through my university cubicle workstation.
Just lovely. Harmonic movement too. Very nice shifts.

Benjaminbarry/Round & Round - This is a cool song with that 80's synthpop vibe.
(Pet Shop Boys, New Order, etc.) You have a cool voice. I want it to stand out more.
The EQ/Compression sounds dull. Also...some vocal harmonies here would make this come alive.
I really like the keyboard textures a lot. Also the lead guitar counterpoint is very cool.
Turn down the cymbal crashes. They stand out a bit too much. This sounds like a work in
progress to me but I really like all the musical components and ideas very much.

Wow...we've got a diverse bunch here!

Keep 'em coming and I hope to post some new ones of mine soon.

Happy and inspired New Year to all!

Thank you for your kind words. Fortunately the volume knob on my guitar was close enough for me to strum the chord changes and control the volume without too much fumbling around.

Thank you again for listening !!!

hey toddamo,
thanks for the kind words and the critisism too. I will remember those tips about the compression/EQ and turning the voice up. I usually like to move on when im "finished" with a song and try my new knowledge out on something new so when I finish that I'll post. the comments about sounding like "pet shop boys" also struck me because I listen to a lot of that kind of stuff (like a-ha) along with newer stuff like Coldplay and Train and whatnot.
thanks again.

WHAT I DID ON MY WINTER VACATION BY TODD AMODEO

Hey everybody!

I had fun doing music during some recent time off.

Here are two tracks that I worked on...

http://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~tamodeo/...rtheclouds.mp3

http://bartlebymusic.com/hashleichpage.html

The first one is a track of mine called UNDER THE CLOUDS .
Its a little piano ballad with some build ups and quiet parts too.

The second one is with my Orthodox Jewish friend and its sung in ancient Hebrew.
She informed me last night that the lyrics are about 3000 years old!
Its very orchestral and one of the melodies has a little nod to Pachabel's Canon in D.

Both tracks have some aquatic subtext.

Equipment used: Roland XP-30 Keyboard, Rhode NTK mic, Lexicon MPX-100 reverb, Squire Jazz Bass,
1st track Drums by Multiloops, 2nd track Drums by my old Boss DR-660, T-tracks (mastering).

Thanks for listening!

www.globetraxters.com collaboration project - "Angelina"

http://dj3plet.dynu.com/globetraxter...LINA_FINAL.mp3

i played bass, arranged the drums (loops), handled the vinyl and touch of synth, and sang. Special thanks to Roy Howell for his smoother-than-smooth touch on the guitars.

Globetraxters players were Capptain on guitar, HammondX on the B3 and trombones. Moohead wrote the lyrics. thanks, guys!

Hey everyone,

http://www.digitallandfill.co.uk/loophole/mp3/

Thought I'd send a link to my track that is featured on radiohead.com
The track is entitled "primal electronik." I used Protools 5.2.1, Digi001+G4, Reason 2.0, and a Nord Lead II for the bulk of the recording and sequencing
