Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I posted this a couple of days before the "Big Crash" and my post got wiped out, so here goes again...
My first post here on the "Let's hear.." thread after listening to you guys for two years!! My most "dense" mix to date ... all 24 tracks, healthy amount of plugs, a true test of my system's limits and it ran beautifully!! (Yes, I'm still running 98SE and 5.1.1) A "demo" for my friends in "Garagestar" here in Miami. They're playing this song out live and they are shopping with this and a couple of other demos that they did before. We tracked everything here on the 001. Drums are MIDI with the Roland XV5050 with "Dynamic Drums" exp card. All right, let me have it!! Garagestar - A Million Miles Away After you click on page, it's MP3-003! It's labeled...you'll see it. Sorry for the extra click. Regards all, Bill Murphy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Here is a new song we finished using digi001 for recording, editing, mixing. The song is called Intention. My friend Steve (we use to play together in a punk band, I played the drums)and I tried a style new to us, pop that is...
Give it a listen if you would and write whatever you think sounds good and/or bad. You could also read about the creation and the recording of the song at http://www.geocities.com/tuvan2575 http://www.geocities.com/tuvan2575/intentionmp3.mp3 If nothing happens when you click on the above link, try right click and "save target as". I would really appreciate any feedback. Tuvan |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Tuvan,
You really have something nice there. 2 things and this tune is a smash. 1. you need to bring up the lead vocals a bit. 2.(and this is the most important), if you get the female vocal singing the la-la-la's as well (in the chorus) this tune rips..she's got an interesting whine/tone to her voice and should NOT be taken out in the most imprtant part of the song. if you get her to do the octave la-la-la's over what the fellas are doing thats it! or have her scat around and over the guys (something structured that repeats in every chorus) maybe have her do a faster answer to the fellas part (a guick la-la-la at the end of there phrase)..BUT whatever you do, do not have her sit out the chorus.. she's the hook! I wish I could sing you what I'm talking about..hope you get the idea! great mix, recording, performance, scratching..Awesome! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Bloux thanks for the feedback, and we actually were thinking about adding her to the lalalas as well. That's the main reason we posted the song and you nailed my question without me even asking the question.
Thanks again, we will add her there. Tuvan. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hi all,
I just worked on 2 new songs: Still In The Night and Endgame. My basic setup is: digidesign 001, Motif Synth, Guitars and Bass. Lots of plug-ins. It's a very small flash file and they stream. I'd love to get some feedback on them. Are they too bassy? Click here for the Songs |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I did some catching up on listening this morning...
Cavet your Eruptor, Nice songs! I particularly like 'Dusty Road', which I bet would be good in an Indie film. Of course, I'm partial to instrumentals anyway. But, very nice... Murph16/Bill, Very good job on the production. I still can't believe those are Midi drums! Though I liked the first mix I heard, I think the new changes are definitely for the better. I think you achieved the dynamics you were shooting for. Good job, man! Please be sure to let us hear what's next... Chonk, Hey man, it sounds great through my 'fairly decent' speakers. You're doing a great job of mixing with phones, in my opinion. So you're gonna add live drums and vocals? Well, please post it when you do. But, be sure to save the Midi drums (I know you will), just in case, because I think they chug as they are... Tuvan, Sheesh, this song is really interesting. I really enjoyed it, and the turntables add so much (Dj Brillo does an excellent job), they really enhance the song. Nice vocals too, IMO. Bey, I'm really sorry, but I can't get Shock right now on my pc. I'll try to get it later though and listen. Thanks to each of you for letting me listen... very nice work... I know it's shameless, but if you guys listen via the link, I get more listens and the song may creep back up the charts! It WAS at #1 last week for about a minute!!
Thanks for your comments in advance! Bill [/QB]
bill- tune sounded great but that link killed off my browser when i tried to get out! marketing ploy at acid planet? |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
DDP,
I don't think so. I've been in and out of that site alot lately...it seems pretty hassle-free to me. No pop-ups or crap like that...definitely less hassle than mp3.com. Sorry about your browser... Murph |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I have one more...
I entered the FrouFrou Remix Contest at ACIDplanet.com. The judging is still underway, but the song is on the Acoustic Rock chart at ACIDplanet Murphonics Remix MCA supplied the loops for this song, but I only used the vocal loops and a couple of synth loops. All of the rest (acoustic guitars, bass, drums) is done with new instruments. The song was originally a European Pop/Hip Hop beat, but I went for a smoother, Adult Alternative angle. I know it's shameless, but if you guys listen via the link, I get more listens and the song may creep back up the charts! It WAS at #1 last week for about a minute!! Thanks for your comments in advance! Bill |

New song on the Shinock download page called "Suicide". Its number 4. If any of you liked the previous stuff i posted, have a look. Its an organic approach to hip hop. no drums machines allowed.
Just click the link below and choose the Shinock. sean. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Roy:
I listened to shut up baby. i liked it a lot. question: are you playing the guitar licks or are they samples? they sound really crisp, and i like the wammy-style bending with the harmonics in there. its precise but souful, and avoids the realm of the generic electric guitar sample/sound. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
murph16:
Wow. Really nice mix on Breathe in (college mix). Reminds me of Sixpence Nonethericher/The Smiths. |

I really enjoyed the song...smooth, soulful guitar... Good job on the mix, IMO. What kind of guitar are you playing, and also do I hear Sampletank drums? Thanks, Roy |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Chonk,
Your first PT project? Sounds like you're off to a flying start! Great guitar sounds...the drums sound cool the way they are...even if it's a rough version. Live drums will make this thing ROCK. This is a very clean recording. Looking forward to hearing the finished version. Hope you post it when it's done. Stiffy/John, The low end sounds fine to me. Not "too heavy" by any means. Nice vocal arrangement. Cool hook! I like the song. keep up the great work, guys! Regards, Bill |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
here's one more... its kind of 80's or maybe 2080's...

Da BaSsTaRd, I loved the timing of that tune dude. Totally killer. What synth are you using?
I think the vox could come up a bit though, I couldn't really hear them. Great work, keep it going. Kris. Peace. www.universalmindmusic.com |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
DaBrian,
Sounds great, man... your vocal is really good. Man, you've learned the art of presence so well, I can't believe it. Those drums sound great, spread out like they are. Coolness... Murph16/Bill, I have to apologize for waiting so long to listen, but I finally got the chance. I tell you, I love what you did with it. The vocal treatment is excellent (and what a killer melody to work with). Very good job. Have you heard anything on that yet...has the judging been done yet? Great job, man... Thanks, Roy I'm still listening to some others, too. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey guys please check out my tune at
ftp://basstardz.dhs.org/Upload/ The song is 9 daze 4. I did it over christmas vacation with 9 days off ,hence the title. Its just acoustic guitar and sampletank xl Thanks to dabasstard for the upload page. I just dragged the tune to my desktop to open it. I mixed in the headphones and through my 20.00 pc speakers. This is my first offering. I need a better mic, better monitor speakers(thinkin about the alesis powered 300.00 dealys)better guitar (used a fender 200 kit acoustic) I have had the digi for about 8 months now and it and sampletank and of course you guys have all changed my musical life. Awesome post to showcase the 001's potential Roy!!! Wonder how many you helped sell? Digi should send you a strat. Have you ever checked out those sperzel locking tuners? They will eliminate those string trees but the wife wont like you modifying the new ax! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
da BaSsTaRd,
Nice...yea a little "Howard Jones thing" going on there. Love the drums...BIG!! I love BIG drums! What did you mean you arranged the drums and Gary played them...you mean you assembled them later, or you "wrote" the drum part? Just curious what you meant. Murph |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Roy,
Thanks for the kind words. I must say I can't take credit for the vocal sound. I didn't record them. The loops were right off the master from the label. Sounded great from the get go. I did, however, add a vocal track (my own voice), muted it and sent it through a bus using just the verb return. I sang the tune slightly out of time in some spots to give the verb a "disconnected" feeling. I was able to spend eight hours straight mixing that because her voice is so sweet and easy to listen to. No word on the winner yet...but I'm not holding my breath. There are 755 entries!! And each of them was unique...cool contest. They have them regularly and you're not required to use ACID for the remixes. You just have to use at least one of the elements they provide. Then you can add anything you want. I added acoustic guitars in my case. Pretty cool experience to come up with your own vision on a mix, and then surf through the other entries and hear what hundreds of other did. I learned alot! It's good to see this thread alive and active again. We need to keep doing this stuff. Keep 'em comin' guys!! |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Bill,
Well, I hope you win, though whether you do or not, you did an excellent job on it. neatguys, Whoa! What a pleasant surprise... I really, really enjoyed '9 daze 4'. It could easily be a soundtrack for a film. It builds so well... I love the guitar sound, and you did a great job on the mix. Very nice, man. Please let us hear more as they come. Thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

neatguys,
I can't either. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
I just clicked directly on the site, which opened to a file of songs, then right clicked on the song itself, and did a 'Save Target As'. So that won't work for you guys, huh?
