PT Update to 10
 

Just wanted to ask if this is correct or if my eyes are screwing with me.
It looks to me like the Avid website says it costs $1,499.00 to upgrade from PT HD 8.x, is this true???

Yes, that is correct.

And it will probably be $4999 to go from 8 to 11, so it does not save you much to skip a version in the future of PT. That's the message I'm reading out of it.

I've been reading about 10 but I can't come up with a reason to 'upgrade' from 8.
Am I missing something? Is there some reason why you upgrade to 10 even if 8 is running OK?
Also does anyone know why upgrading to 10 is soooooo much more than previous updates. For example from 7 to 8, or 8 to 9 etc?
