New laptop weird problem (tech details included)

I've PTLE 6.4cs9 with digi002 rack running on my PC for some years.

Now I want to move to laptop and when I'm trying to run PTLE I get blue screen with 0x000000FC error.
I get this error even if unit is disconnected from laptop. When in Cubase I'm trying to switch to digi ASIO driver I get the same error.

My specs:

- Windows XP Professional SP2
- PTLE 6.4cs9
- Notebook Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Pi 1505 (Core 2 Duo, 1Gb RAM, build-in Firewire card)
- All firewalls, antivirus software is disabled, my network card is in use, 'cause I need it.

I don't know if I need any software\firmware updates, because I was happy with my previous configuration. I haven't read this forum for a long time so maybe I miss some updates\tricks. Maybe my problem is typical?

The blue screen is probably due to outdated PACE drivers; update at www.paceap.com

Version 6.4 was never designed for use on multi-core computers. I would definitely recommend upgrading to the current version, which will include new ASIO drivers as well.

Any suggestions after that would require complete and detailed specs of the machine.

I do not have any dongles\keys for my PTLE... Is this still applicable to this setup?

As far as I understand from Digidesign site, all upgrades up from 6.4cs9 are not free? Am I right?

YES!!! Pro Tools uses the PACE drivers for it's own authentication, without the dongle.

That is absolutely correct. Upgrading to current code would cost you $75. IMHO, it is definitely worth it, especially in our situation using a multi-core processor.
