Crash on Renaming Files

An odd one. I imported to ProTools (PT_7.2_Mac) an AAF file exported from an Avid. They needed a ProTools session of the 5.1 and LT/RT stems. The regions were named A.1 A.2, etc. I wanted to rename them .L,.R,.C etc. and when I tried to do that the system repeatedly crashed when trying to rename the A.2 to .R

It also would not give me the window to rename both region and file name. Only the region.

Other sessions allow me to change region and files names. Any ideas why this would occur?

Have you tried either reconsolidating the one file that is giving you problems or a new session. Also, sometimes I have run into permission issues on Macs where odd things like that happen.

Rick- if you are importing as AAF (via digitranslator) "I think" that the app is doing some behind the scenes management to make OMF's and AAF to be seen as straight audio tracks-

you might try moving the material (via option dragging) to some new tracks and duplicate them via the AS plugin....

Thanks for the tips

Charles and Randall, thanks for the tips. It turns out that there was a 1 frame handle on the beginning of the R audio track. I pulled it out and it let me rename it. The odd thing was that it did not show up in the region list as a master audio file and a modified region in the first place. Why it kept crashing the system is still a mystery.
