ProTools 2022.9 Bounce to Dropbox Folder Bug

1 Attachment(s)
I get this bug when I try to bounce to a Dropbox folder on my Mac. I don't know if this is a Dropbox bug or ProTools bug? I can bounce to my Bounced Files folder though. So really weird. Pretty nasty bug since I use Dropbox so much!
Sorry attached picture is small! The error says, "Can't create bounced files because Macintosh HD is not a playback volume" even though my Mac HD is clearly a playback volume.

Gotta ask why not bounce it to the (default) bounced files folder in your session folder, then just upload it to Dropbox when you’re finished. Then you have it in two places, plus your bounce is always with your session folder.

I agree, there's benefit in bouncing straight to Dropbox, especially if your Dropbox prefs are set to keep everything local by default. That way, it's already backed up the moment it finishes uploading. I do it all the time, but my Dropbox is on an external drive that is set to be a PT playback volume.

Did you try changing Macintosh HD to a playback volume? If it already was one, it might be a PT bug. But I doubt that PT cares whether the folder it's bouncing to is auto-synced because we have a coworker who routinely records with a PT session that is in his Google My Drive.

More steps. Plus we import session data to another session so it's superfluous.

My Macintosh HD is already set to playback but I can't bounce to the Dropbox folder. Yeah like you I have an external drive where my projects are stored and sometimes I will bounce (depending on what I'm doing) to my bounced files folder but other times I just bounce straight to Dropbox and that's when I have a problem.

Sounds like a permissions problem.
Have you tried quitting Dropbox and seeing if it still misbehaves?
Are you using the 'normal' Dropbox backup of folders i.e. Documents, Desktop, Downloads (which works for me fine) or the 'Sync' option, which I don't think is as reliable?

FIXED it. I downloaded PT Pref http://petegates.com/pg-pt-prefs.html and cleared the Database / Catalogue / Plist / AAE Pref, / and ProTools Pref for 11+. So this is definitely a bug in the Database Catalogue workspace.

Not sure what's causing this but if anyone else has this bounce issue you gotta clean it all out and start fresh. It's hilarious I still need this wonderful app after all these years.
