s/pdif not working from Digi 003 Rack?

I note that there is another thread with a similar problem which Digidesign Tech support were looking into at the end of 2008 but with no resolution from them - so I'm opening this thread to bring the matter to the top of the heap.

I have done the loop-through tests for the s/pdif outs and ins. My 003 Rack factory running PT 7.4 thinks its all ok - it will read back in the s/pdif stream from its output quite happily.

However, no other piece of hardware will see the s/pdif stream sent out from the 003 s/pdif out - neither my Philips CD recorder, nor Lexicon MPX 500 reverb nor my TC Electronics G Major. All units set to receive digital s/pdif in fail to decode the s/pdif stream properly. The Lexicon warns it must receive a digital clock from the s/pdif stream which it is not getting.

Damned annoying because my old Digi 001 communicated quite happily by the same s/pdif route.

My computer; G5 Mac Dual 2GHz PowerPC with 2.5Gb of RAM running OS10.4.11.

Perhaps the Digidesign Tech Support need to answer this one? Or anybody with similar problems/solutions.

Thanks.

Panic over. Having rechecked my leads yet again - because paranoia is always justified where leads are concerned - I find that I have an intermittent lead which works on some occasions and not on others... So Digi Tech Support sleep more easily and no more nightmares about s/pdif... Unless of course, there are monsters under the bed...
