steven slate drums 4

Thinking of getting Steven slate drums 4, does anyone use it and would you recommend it. The drums sound great but I'm just starting out in pro tools so I'm learning my way around. Boom doesn't sound like the drums I'm looking for, too electronic fake drums. SSD4 sounds like good rock drums. Thanks

Boom is specifically designed to sound like fake electronic drums because that sound is popular for many styles of music. It's designed to emulate vintage drum machines.

SSD4 is great for hard rock/metal. I recommend that you get the cheapest version, called Custom, and then get the CLA expansion pack, which is great.

You also might check out Superior Drummer.

Steven Slate makes great drum samples, so if thats the interface you like, then go for it.

Not sure where you are considering purchasing from, but if you are buying a download version, then you can usually save a bit by purchasing from AudioDeluxe.com

Boom is not really made for replacing an acoustic drum kit, its for electronic sounds.

There are many drum VI's out there, personally I'm liking BFD2 the best right now.

There is also Addictive Drums, Superior Drummer, EZdrummer, Strike and more.

Maybe take some time and search through YouTube and see demos of what is out there, and download any trials available.
