OT: Has Anyone here heard of Robert Randolph?

I just saw his video on MTV for I Need More Love. All I can say is HOLY S--T!!! I never heard of this guy before - he is incredible! A pedal steel player - but not like what you would think a pedal steel would sound like. Incredible band too - the Family Band. Check him out if you haven't already.

He plays a solo on the latest 'Fountains of Wayne' CD... But if you want to hear INCREDIBLE, listen to Junior Brown.

Robert Randolph is the only cool new thing out there I have seen. A black man playing like Stevie Ray on a Pedal Steel doing cool funk like Sly and the Family Sone. It is actually something new and positive for a change.

vh1.com has his new video and also some cool live stuff with RR and his guitarist. Check it out if you get a chance.

There is also a Austin City Limits concert with him that is pretty amazing - if you can catch a rerun sometime.

Oh yeah...true...great musician indeed.
Also speaking of great players. I was flipping channels recently and came on the bluegrass group that did the 'O Brother where art thou' song that everybody's heard. I wasn't expecting much really, because bluegrass is not my genre of choice. But they featured their dobro player, Jerry Douglas, and introduced him as 'the best dobro player in the world'. Man, when he was through, I believed them. He is one badass dobro player.
I gotta see Robert Randolph too. The video clip is intriguing.

Yes, he did play the steel solo on Hung Up On You on the new FOW album. A nice solo, but for me it was his TONE on it that was really impressive.

And I agree with the Junior Brown comments - that cat's unreal!

It's Jerry "Douglas".

Sheesh, dodo, you're right... so I've corrected it up there... Of course, there's a Don Nix album that lists my name as Roy Halle, so I don't feel too bad...
