PT 2022.9 w/ OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) on Mac 5,1
 

Is anyone using this configuration:


PT 2022.9 HDX w/ OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) on Mac 5,1 (Cheesegrater)

Currently I'm running 2021.6 on HDX and everything works OK.

I know 10.13.6 is not officially supported, but it may still work. If necessary I can upgrade to Mojave 10.14... but Mac 5,1 will go no higher than that.

Just stay where you are and plan ahead, you need new hardware soon. Mojave is listed in the compatibility chart, but marked as "untested but no expected problems". Writing is on the wall...

PT Studio 2022.7 runs fine on my 2011 iMac i5 under High Sierra (10.13.6).

PT Studio 2022.9 does not open on my 2011 iMac i5 under High Sierra (10.13.6).

Also, attempting to load 2022.9 installed a new PT helper app before it said it wouldn't run. When I tried to run 2022.7 after that, it opened but Heat would not work. I reinstalled PT 2022.7 and everything is fine again.

^^ that's why Pro Tools compatibility chart should be read like the Bible... literally!

Well, the PT compatibility chart nixed High Sierra quite some time ago, yet it works fine through PT 2022.7, at least for me.

I have always considered the compatibility chart to indicate what was not tested by Avid and thus "not supported". The hint that Mojave should probably work in recent releases is an example of that.

I need to update my bible to the King Louis edition to get Cloud access, but sadly my original subscriptsin has expired.

Well, it’s working well on a 5,1 metal Mac Pro 12 core.
HDX in Hybrid mode for new Aux-bridging!
10.14.6 Mojave.
Mel-studio 5.3
