New Mac Pros and Imacs! Plus more!
Just a heads up. New mac pros announced (available in August) in quad core, 8 core and 12 core versions (new processors). Also, solid state drives available:
http://www.apple.com/macpro/ New updated Imacs available today (updated processors, features). Has the option for a solid state drive as the main drive, or as a 2nd drive in the Imac, also, now separate graphics cards (and more powerful): http://www.apple.com/imac/ Also announced is a 27" LED display (available soon). Basically looks like a standalone display that's the same as what comes with the 27" Imac: http://www.apple.com/displays/ |

What this means though, is that older octo-Macs will start coming down in price a whole lot. :-) |

Workstation prices have been soaring because the big market is now laptops, netbooks, i-phones, ipads, etc.

Re: New Mac Pros and Imacs! Plus more!
Well, the quad core is still $2499, which is good. Then the 8 core bumps up a couple hundred to $3499 (used to be 3299, I think?). Then they really get ya with the 12 core. But I can only imagine what the processing power would be like.
What's really interesting is the price of the 27" monitor. At $999, for $700 more, you can get a computer thrown in free! (The cheapest 27" Imac that allows you to use it as an external monitor). |

Will Pro Tools be able to use all 12 cores in the new systems?

I'm 95% in the right forum because 95% of issues I need to resolve are with Digi and 5% with Logic. ;) |
