<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">thanks Gorilla! "Surrender" is the most "pro-tooled" song on our album. In retrospect, I regret some of the obsessive things I've done. after our drummer recorded his tracks, I spent half day cutting every drum hit to be precisely on time. Then I used sound replacer to replace the kick, snare and toms. along with that, those great harmonies are auto-tuned like crazy (I don't think you can hear it though) I also cut and pasted guitar parts...pretty much sucked the life out of it basically!

just listened to your track: "Asphyxiate". Way intense! pretty dark! I would worry if my kids listened to that kind of music
just kiddin'!

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

Stu and Ben...I really appreciate the good feedback on 'Paint the Desert Wind'... I think it came out well too. Ben, I wrote the broad music theme and played all the 'stuff', to which Paul wrote the melody, most all of the lyrics (I only added a few verse lines), and sang all the great vocals. The mandolin runs were created in another session, and imported into the song.

I really respect Paul's songwriting expertise. He and I made it clear from the get-go that we would be brutally honest creatively, and we are. But even his first ideas are excellent. He came back with those tracks after having the piece for just one day. I was amazed, but also knew I had to make the mix live up to the tracks I had. (Whew!...glad that's done... )

Also, thanks to my friend pk_hat(thanks pk) for the custom loops he made me recently, some of which I used for 'Paint'.

thanks you guys... ~Roy

Re: Mac Mixes!!!!!!!!

Gorilla: that riff in asphyixiation is getting stuck in my head...good work

Kris Whitten: I really liked both of your tracks - it's refreshing to hear something that isn't guitar-based on these recording-related boards here... sounds like a cross between St. Germain and Basement Jaxx...on ****urbritches, the interplay between the bass-beat and sax is great...just my opinion, but i would edit down the first 1:30 so you get to the really good stuff in the track sooner...i really like the groove you lay down after that.

Kirk95: Forgotten Man is way cool - musically, I liked it better than Wired for Loud, though the latter had a better mix in my opinion. The guitar solos in Forgotten Man sound like they're clipping though...maybe a tad hot in the mix

DMK: strong songwriting and performances; good luck on the CD; as for the pro-toolsy sound you alluded to, you can always blame it on the converters

Slim Shady: of all the songs, I liked Something to Live the most - though you say it's a demo. I especially love the keys and vox harmonies in that song...the vibe and punchiness reminds me of Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai which is probably why I like it the best

Okay, that's all I've gotten through so far. Will post more later...

EricHSound:very nice, the snare reverb in "warm road" is cool, real front to back depth more back than front.can I borrow the royer
Sneaky Pete: Musically it's a fun song, I sorta wish you loved the hippie girl, hippie girls are people too,and I guess
I feel promotin' love is better than promotin' hate.
Dreamstate:already broken, I like it, I remember another post thinking when the distorted guitars (I think's it a bass) come in they were too hot, nah, I disagrea I like where there at.

A quick tune from a few hours of playing and somewhat more editing and mixing. Its my first more or less complete tune done in the PT era. Real hasty, with me on everything but drums, so there are some funky tuning and timing issues, but it rocks. Its called "Race to Judge." There are other tunes on the page from my Roland years. Binge and Purge.

What a refreshingly positive and friendly thread! Thanx Gorilla.

I think I’ll stock up a a couple of beers and listen tonight. I love to listen to peoples stuff here on the DUC, you never know what you’re gonna hear, and most of the times you get blown away.

Go to my homepage navigate to the page with my friends’ and my music and listen to the last "Drysser" on the list. Its work in progress. You might also want to listen to "Kryp". All this is stuff we do just for fun.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Thanks GORILLA! No Ztar on Forgotten Man. That's a Strat through a Arion chorus and a bunch of delays panned around. If you want Ztar check out "For You For Me" further down the page. The sax-like solo in that tune is the Ztar midi controller.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Good ears Greenshoe, thanks for catching that. Those are really quick mixes. I think I mastered a little too hot in T-racks. These are early tracks for my next CD that I am tracking right now. I have 24 new tracks/tunes in progress right now. Once I get everything tracked to satisfaction...an endless quest of course. I will get down to serious mixes and then send out for real mastering. BTW, I read your bio...you should go read mine on my site. Similar rediscovery of music!

I am hoping to check out everbody's tracks this weekend!

Happy 4th of July for those who celebrate it!

(post pushed up for the occasion!) Enjoy

In God We Trust

It's live with a 50 member choir. I used a couple of M012 Octava mics for the choir.

This was recorded live last Sunday night at the last night of our first patriotic musical program using my 001 plugged into the house mackie board. We're hoping to put together a CD with what we recorded over the 4 nights of performace.

I wrote the words and music for the song, and it was performed by Randy Bills who deserves credit for the choral arrangement.

Hello Friends.

I have a new tune up on my Mp3.com website.
Please go ahead and check it out. It goes a little different direction then my other stuff, its got a lot of synth and a heavy driven guitar chorus.

www.mp3.com/agenda_entropy

the song is called: "Execration"

If you can understand the lyrics, I think they are listed under "Song Information"

Many are familiar with recent situations in my life, so, this song I think is the summing up of the past three years of my life after heavy reflection.
Thanks.
=-Ben
