Aaron - that was a superb score. Did you create the visuals as well?

Hello my old cycle friends, it's been too long and it's good to see familiar faces. How have you'll been travelling? Thought it about time I publish something. I'm proud of this project and think it's worthy sharing with you'll fine folk. Enjoy or not.

drh yeah mate all sound design and video footage was created by me. My Tuhua Aurora you tube channel has all the details but the footage was captured using a Sony NEX VG-20EH, edited with Premiere Pro and treated with After Effects. Audio via Minimoog Voyager Old School but sampled/re-recorded and processed with an Elektron Octatrack and Pro Tools. Sound track was aligned in Premiere. The project wasn't easy, it took six months traveling and compiling but the sound track wrote it's self like a demon possessed. That's me.

Here's a song that was recorded and mixed by me at my studio. It's in french sorry if you don't understand the lyrics. The signer is my niece she wanted to make a demo, male vocal is her brother. Song is not mastered.

Here's a little something I did a few months back. The artist just got around to uploading the video.

Artist: Drum & Bell Tower
Song: War Tonight

Background:

I offered my services for free in order to test out my mobile rig in a live recording environment. I'm relatively happy with the results. Everything was recorded with my Focusrite interface and OctoPre, through a custom ISO split snake into my MBP powered ProTools 10 rig. The show ran for over an hour without a hiccup from the system.

The video is shot with a GoPro Hero 3, I was too rushed to double check the shot. But it worked out well to see D&B's feet. Enjoy, I'm off to set him up in a cabin this weekend to record his new album.

Gave me an appreciation, again, of George Martin. Used VSL stuff for it.

Sounds good to me! The lead guitar tone and how it cuts through but not to much is great on this and other stuff of yours.

Hello everybody.
I'm following this forum for about a year, this is my first post.

Can you judge this guitar sound? I have problem with one guitarist, because he came to me to record his parts with 8 months strings, so I record it just to play with sound and of course he will come again with new strings.
But despite strings, in whatever position I placed the mics, after doubles it sounds weird, something like "10 guitars".
Stuff:
2x sm57, no EQ
Randall Rm100
Diamond Cab 4x12
prs custom 24

How many guitar tracks are you recording?

[emoji332]

jankeros 01-15-2015 09:03 AM

Re: Let's hear your latest stuff....right here

2 tracks (2xsm57) for each take, so commonly 4 tracks after doubles and one mic=one track with additional background/solo, so max 5

This is my first time with kind of "heavy" guitars

First Zoom way out on your guitar tracks and see if they all line up.

Our band Terramater released "Protheus" last month, and I also mixed and produced it. We're in the progressive rock genre (some say neoprogressive), so if that's not your thing... :D

This is an arrangement that I did this weekend with Midi and Virtual Instruments.

I'm looking for some collaboration on how to maximize the sound and streamline the number of tracks and busses I have to work with.

Just join today as a new member... here's a demo recording I did of a concert using a Canon HF G20 and ONLY using the 'built-in' mics. I was stationed over 20 feet away and all the sound was picked up as ambient room. No external mics were used. And No audio editing was done!

Highlights from 'Echoes of Carnegie Hall' Concert featuring Idara Aguinaga

There is some distortion at (4:33) in the video... when she hit the high "F" that I need to learn how to eliminate at recording or in editing.

I plan on acquiring Avid Pro Tools and learning about real audio production. But wanted to give you a "before" sample of my work and later I'll share an "after" sample when I use and become proficient with Avid Pro Tools. Any suggestions on mics for recording opera singers?

Cheers,
J Greg

Just recorded this using Eleven rack

So I just picked up this unit after offloading a bunch of gear I don't use to reverb. i picked up the 11R for $280 which included the expansion pack. So far I love this unit. I just wanted to let anyone who wants to hear my patches in the context of a song. Thanks

Absolutely love the guitar !
The bass sounds to me a little bit like a diffuse hum, a change in a note is like a relieve.
The drums are in the back like in John Scofields "Still warm", ok for jazz. Also "featuring" a guitar player.
But the guitar, awesome, I got goose pimples !
Just from a "customer" of music. (I do not mix music)

That was cool dude! Who said the 11R can't do metal. I loved that 'Horse neighing' guitar.
