Feedback please. |
Re: KASHMIR
Joel: Nice rendition of Kashmir man! you guys program the drums again? or are these live? can't hardly tell anymore... sound programmed if I had to guess though eh? good work!
MacrOw: Nice on the new tunes man! I dig Blue Something on there how it has the bass sort of slapping out at you a bit in the mix. good work also! |
AIRPLAY BABY!!
I haven't posted on this board in a while but I'm so excited because one of our songs was just played on KDGE The Edge here in Dallas that I had to post. The song is called Panic Attack and it was recorded on my trusty little Digi001 (actually our entire album was recorded on the 001 w/ the exception of drums... we had to go into the studio to take those... needed more than 8 inputs).
I do have to say that I didn't mix it however... a really good friend and incredible mixing engineer handled it for us. Our album comes out Oct 22nd... and now we've had our first taste of radio. Things are looking up and I'm all giddy. If you want to hear the song go to http://www.myspace.com/millicentfriendly and check out the Track called Panic Attack. Thanks... sorry to bother everyone... I just got excited |
Re: AIRPLAY BABY!!
hey man, congrats on the radio play and cool tunes! I added you guys to my myspace with a request on there.
btw.. if you get outboard pre-amps you can record up to 16 I/O's with your 001 if you like. I was just going to let ya know so you guys could save $$ next record there. The drums on the tunes you have though sound great! goodluck with your tunes. peace |
Hello People!
Hey everybody...
I haven't been around here in a while. Glad to see everybody's being so productive and creative. Let's listen to some of the tracks on this page and then I'll share one of my new tracks with you... Charlie Naebeck: Sunrise Unplugged: One time I was staying on a beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. In the early moring the hotel would play ambient music out to the beach. It was real nice. This track isn't an ambient track persay, but I hear it playing at 9am on beach somewhere beautiful. Nice work. Drifiting: This is an oddball track...and I mean that in the most complimentary of ways. :-) Oddball arrangements, vocals, etc. That's what we need more of in this world. Less cookie cutter and more originality. I really like the shuffling drums. I like the sound of them a lot. Too many BIG BIG drum sounds in this world. :-) Complete: More oddball stuff in a different direction. You're a diverse cat. Love it. Odd mix too. I'm sure lots of cats might recommend that you make this sound more 'professional' in terms of the mix. I like the quirkiness of it. Keep it. Cool stuff. Let's see what else is here... Joz...Nice recordings here. The first tune is too straigt ahead RAWK for me. But that's just my bias. Nice recording. The 2nd tune pops out for me. The keyboard parts make it nice and distinct. Tight productions/performances. 3rd tune...acoustic...nice work here. Nice vocal sounds. Ah...dig the odd drum patterns. I don't know if this is your band or not but I feel like the 2nd two tunes show much more depth and vitality. This is good stuff. OK....on to PowerJoe and Kashmir 2005... This is a cool interpretation. I think it could be de-constructed even further. It would be nice for the vocalist to make it his own some more...but of course maybe that's not what you were going for. Some good players (Drummer!) in here. Instrumental break is really nice. Yea yea...the end polyrhythmic part is my favorite. Very nice. Ok...macr0w... Oh yea...back to oddball world. Wonderful World...That is bent. Love it. Tapeworm boogie. Cool instrumental. Dig the catchy bass riff. Guitar solo stuff. I'm just not a big guitar fan. That's my bias again. I'd like to hear a lounge-y sax play during that break. Fun tune! Blech Napkins...Here comes the rock guitar again. :-) Nice tone. Nice playing. Blue Something. oooh...very cool. Real nice bass and a live sound. Good work! The Wonderful World blows me away! Millicent...Panic Attack (and we all now how fun those can be!) I dig this rhythm. I can be so inarticulate. What kind of beat is that? Nice guitar arrangements. Vocal harmonies too. Nice. Kind of like Jellyfish. Are they an influence? (Duh...yes I see you have them listed.) Cool stuff. Power Pop rocks! Heya...people makin' lots of good music out there. Thanks for sharing! -todd http://bartlebymusic.com Press here for Free Music and Free Love! |
Re: Hello People!
Ok...Since I've been so darned opinionated about your music,
it's only fair that I share something of mine. Here's a real new tune. The song's called 'When we walked on water'. It's kind of an epic little movie. Turn it up. Close your eyes. Fire one up, maybe. ;-) Tools I used: FruityLoops, Roland XP-30 keyboard, Rhode NTK mic, Lexicon MPX-100 reverb, Squire Jazz Bass, Joy, Sadness. It lives here. Thanks for checkin' it! http://bartlebymusic.com/waterpage.html -todd amodeo |

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hello all!
I have a new tune called "Wise Guys" Check it out if you get a chance! It is located under Buzz & Spirithunter. There is one other new tune also with another project i am also involed in and that tune is called "Change".T hat would be under the Frozenbones Project. I do all the music and mixes except for vocals. Which i have no control over on how they are recorded. The singer's write the lyrics and sing and then send me the tracks. Buzz uses a soundblaster card and i am not sure of the mic. Frozenbones uses a SM58 and NT1 Rode into a MBOX. Thanks for listening and hope you enjoy! http://www.freewebs.com/fracturecomposer/mp3s.htm (you have scroll down the webpage little) ~Bob |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey Charlie; Thanks Man! I'm drooling waiting for PT7. Ran into a couple of issues with error messages telling me to check hardware and buffer settings and I was only running two plugs (serato scratch and serato pitch n time on an 8 bar loop)

Hi Charlie...yes, I did get an email from lemix asking me to play on it, but I'm just too busy right now. Among other things, I'm doing the music for a new indie movie here in Memphis.....to my knowledge, lemix has not even mixed the first thing I played on over there, the DeafLimeBlues thing, so that alone makes me hesitant to do something else....But I would help you if I could, Charlie......just don't have the time right now......Good luck with it. The studio is just great, by the way...I'm lovin it. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Dave: yeah, usually those type of errors are cause to raise the buffer higher man.
Roy: aww man.. maybe next time then. I think that Andrew mixed the Deaf Lime Blues track a while back man. I heard a version floating around atleast... Great to hear on the movie thing though man and awesome about the studio! btw guys.. some new tunage: here let me know what y'all think. |

TBR
All, its been awhile since I put a song out here.
So I tracked a song over the past few weeks with my old client Joel Herrington. Turned out pretty cool. He can actually play pretty well to a click track and his guitar is so damn nice! Lots going on in this song. We added Bass, some solo guitars and some drums. The solo guitar player did all that work. The electric guitar was simple and turned out pretty cool. Old F-Hole Gibson into the 65 bassman out of the Bogner cab. That is only in the left speaker but sounds nice. Added an old chorus from te TSR-24 and wha la.... Pretty happy with the drum sound and took it simple this time. May have another drummer in on Snday, but who knows for now it works. Some automation on the solo front, etc. Pretty melow, but easy tune. Guitars were various mic setups. Doubled the tracks. Bass - Demeter - 1176 - Apogee Kick - 421 - X73i Kick 2 - Subkick - 1272 Snare top - SM57 - X73i Snare Bottom - SM57 - 1272 OVerheads - 012's - -3db reduction on the distressors - VERY LIGHT VERY! - API Tom 1 - 421 - API Floor - 421 - API Hat - 012 - Trident S20 Electric - Gibson - 65 Blackface - Bogner 4x12 - SM-57 VOX - Rode NTK - 1272 - 1176 That was it. I like it... JOEL HERRINGTON - LONELY HIGHWAY Enjoy, Doc |
Re: The Rip Torn
Cool stuff third eye. Was the delay done live for subsonica or did you add it later?
Nice tone IntelDoc. |
Re: The Rip Torn
All of the guitar FX were recorded live, none were added (with the exception of some re-amping we did-but not on either of those songs). He has like 20 pedals or something, and pulls it of pretty well.
It was insane troubleshooting some of the noise and distortions (unintentional distortion) the pedals would create (the crazy overloaded distortion at the end of Subsonica is a good example-don't know what caused that, but we left it in......). We had to get godzilla out of the signal path!! Thanks for listening!!! |
Retweeked it
So I re-tweeked some things on the "Lonely Highway" Song.
Lonely Highway - Tweeked Mix Seemed to clear the vocals up and the guitars sit better. Enjoy, - Doc |

Re: Overnight Lows
Hey Joz,
I really enjoy your songs and this new is no exception. The only thing I hear is what I'm guessing is an EQ issue on the vocals. Mostly on the verses it sounds kind of muffled? Not a lot, just missing some highs? The sections in the chorus and with harmonies sound fine. Sorry for the vague description, but I'm having a hard time putting my finger on it. Keep 'em coming! |
Re: Overnight Lows
Its because I recorded the vocals with an M-audio interface. Never doing that again!!!! I returned the M-audio and Digidesign fixed all the issues my 002 had. We were at a remote location so I had to use the M-audio without my Rosetta and Brent Averill pres.. Even just for monitoring the D/A converters on the 002 are so much better. I couldnt even mix on the other thing.
