Strike vs Toontrack
Hi, I'm trying to decide on a drum solution and neither programs I'm considering have demos. I've searched forums, but I'm pretty much asking opinions on 2 pieces of software in regards to what I'm looking for.
My primary focus is building drum tracks from scratch all the way down to customized fills and rolls to suit my original songs. It doesn't matter whether I'm composing drums in the software editor or in PT midi mapping. I need realistic sounding drums that can handle sounds from industrial and tecno to alternative rock all the way to metal blast beats (speed with a realistic double bass drum sound) So, can I please get some opinions on Toontrack Vs Strike before I put down some money? Thanks |
Re: Strike vs Toontrack
Can't speak for strike, but Superior Drummer is AWESOME. Very easy to use. You would need to get some of their expansion packs to handle all the flavors of music you described. From everything I have ever read about Strike it is very good as well but I have never used it myself.

Re: Strike vs Toontrack
The fact that Superior Drummer has expansion packs is a huge plus. Not it's own, but you can also get Platinum Samples Joe Baressi Evil Drums for it. Hopefull there will be even more packs in the future.
Plus the fact that you can run it in other DAW's. Whereas Strike has whatever it has, and will only work in Protools. |
Re: Strike vs Toontrack
I have both and there is not even a close comparison, SD all the way. Period.

To OP, either choice will serve you well. |
Re: Strike vs Toontrack
Can only give you my opinion on Toontrack which is excellent IMO (I don't have strike so can't comment), but then everyone's only going to give their 'opinion' on what they prefer. Toontrack have lots of EZXpansion kits that would suit your requirements. You can hear samples on their website.

Re: Strike vs Toontrack
Both plugins are absolutely amazing in their own ways. Personally I like Strike for just getting a beat going and trying to come up with some fresh ideas, but for actual programming and recording Super Drummer---I absolutely agree with.
