HUI Faders seem \"sticky\" when writing automation
I am using the Mackie HUI with my Pro Tools HD 2 system. I have a Dual 2GHZ Mac G5 running 10.4.2., with 2.5 GB DDR SDRAM. I have three different HUI's and all have the same problem. Upon writing volume automation with the faders it feels like the faders are sticking, especially while making small adjustments. It feels like I can only adjust volume in stepped incriments. Other than the faders, everything on the HUI "talks" to Pro Tools fine. I'm using the MOTU Fastlane midi to usb box. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Lick your fingertips, and see if that makes a difference.
No I'm not kidding, the faders sense galvanic skin response, you'll noticed you cant push the fader using your fingernail!! I use a HUI also, and must use hand lotion to keep my fingers from getting too dry. |
Re: HUI Faders seem \"sticky\" when writing automation
It seems to be more of a problem in dry climates, like Burbank. Especially when the Santa Anas kick up. And some individuals are more prone to it than others, maybe having to do with skin, sweat... dunno.
I've found 2 things that help. 1.) solid grounding, and 2.) popping off the fader caps (or whatever they're called) and washing them in hot water with a really nasty detergent like Palmolive. |

i tried those options, and although better, I still seem to be fighting these things. I'm wondering if its a "Tiger" thing? Thanks for your help.

Nope, HUI works fine on Tiger here.
Calibrating the HUI's faders might/would help, send me an email, Ill send you the calibration manual on PDF. |
