Hey byteme.. thanks for listening.. i didn't track any of this, and the guy that did is very much stuck in the 80's, so it was trying to undo some of his stuff.. And the bass, yeah, i agree.. after listening to it at home, it is lacking some.. I'm still trying to find that sweet spot in the control room..

thanks for listening though, and thanks for the advice.. oxygen was a great song, most definitely!!! any tips on how you got the vocals to sound like that?? guitar tone was great as well.. warm and rich during the "cleaner" parts, and big warm and dirty during the rest.. just all around a great piece.. sounds like something you'd hear on the radio or something.. good luck with it.

Sorry I haven't responded in awhile, I need to be better about that. I'll check some stuff out later tonight.

Anyway, I have a couple new ones.

"Touched" and "This Time" are new.

the guitar solo sounds for both songs suck and will be replaced this weekend or next. I need to do new vocals on "this time" (can you spot the cranked compression?) and a new solo, a little editing, but this is mix is pretty close to what I was looking for.

I'd like any advice, feedback.

Murph,

great job adding all that stuff together, it really gels. (spelling? jells, ghjellz? who knows?)

What were you using for the vocals, the singer sounds great.

BRB, I listened to the "dance pop" selection, it sounded great. What did you use for drums?

thanks.

The simple carnival song has a great kind of 60s sound to the vocals.

Nice work all.

Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here

bp,
Thanks. it's a Shure KSM32 through the DBX 576 Preamp/Comp. Jodi has a great voice and very professional mic technique. With her voice I am able to boost mids on that 576 without clipping. Some voices you just get away with it better than others.
The thing I did with this vocal track (after I recorded it) was bus ALL of the vocals (lead and back-up) out of an AUX track with a Waves RComp, mild, on Vocal preset, and into my Mackie CFX20 board and then back into another AUX track. This warmed up the vocals and gave it a more analog sound. Plus, the vocal reverb on that track is from the Mackie's internal DSP....believe it or not. It really was the right verb for the track and it spared me some CPU resourses.
