Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Aussie169/Mark,
After reading your comments about 'Unspoken Words', I listened, and I want to commend you. It captures the feel for that which it was written. Very good job... It's 3am here, so I'll catch the rest later... Thanks, Roy |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hi Guys
after several aborted attempts (slow connections here on the west coast of New Zealand) 3 tracks on dabasstards site. Hard to pick so I put up the most indulgent!!! These are solo efforts with drums done by arranging individual samples one at a time ... All guitars are POD. Love some criticism or at leart critique of sounds and mix etc. cheers |

If anyone feels up to it, you can check out some of my tracks at vegadark.net. I only have a few up there right now. I'm influenced mostly by Pink Floyd, Bauhaus, and Nine Inch Nails, if you can believe that combination |

Yeah, the CRT is definitely part of my problem, but it seems I've always had a hum problem with this guitar, both live and in the studio. Right now, almost all of my electric guitar work is done sitting at the PC, plugged into a Line 6 Pod,then straight to the digi (Monster cables). I have to maneuver the way I face until I'm directly perpendicular to the offending magnetic field (I guess it's the monitor), which lowers the hum to a reasonable level. If I move 2 inches in any direction, the thing sounds like a chain saw, especially if I'm on a distortion setting. If it weren't for my ability to go into pro-tools and snip out the hum where I'm not playing, it would be unworkable. Maybe I'll try those EMG's. |

Soundsurfer,
Just set up PT to record, turn off the monitor and then press the spacebar to record. That's what I do. As for the EMG's I just ordered a set a week ago today, the guy at guitar center said it would be about two weeks. I got two SA single coils (same as the Gilmore setup) and an 89 which is a splitting humbucker with a push pull volume pot. They should be here by next Monday..Cant Wait. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
Hey soundsurfr,
Thanks for that feedback. My Brother thought it interesting that you thought he sounded like Rob Thomas. I wasn't sure who he was until I looked him up. He likes the feedback on what others think of his singing. Later, Shawn |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
roy, i don't think you have answered this one yet....what band were you with that you had a deal?
i would guess that most of us are stage-dreamers and would love hearing some big league tales. |
Re: Let\'s hear your latest stuff....right here
jon,
That particular band was 'Jaguar'. We had a 2-album deal with RCA Records. I was the guitarist/writer, and co-producer. They set us up like 'stars', put us on the road, and all that. But the same week as Billboard Magazine chose us as their 'National Breakout Pick'(based on national requests for the album), our manager was caught embezzling money from RCA. We were oblivious to what he had been doing, but had to ask out of our contract. That's putting it as simply as possible. I was young, and it broke my heart.(I was about 20, and now I'm over 40). But I got over it, and later I realized that it had been a good thing, all of it. Because for one thing I had some incredible musical and life experiences. But also, no one can survive living the way I was at the time, and live very long. I've got a lot left to accomplish...I've done some cool things since then, and there's so much more on the way... But at least you got to wear some really cool threads.
(I can kid, because I spent 18 years playing the party circuit in this band. Check out my excellent mullet from days gone by) Congratulations, Roy, very fitting that yours was post number 700 on this topic. There really is a great sense of a community in this forum more than any other thanks to you and the rest of the gang. |

Sheesh, check out the hair... The site you found belongs to Pat Taylor, the guy standing next to me (great singer who did other things on RCA later), and he and I were laughing the other day at how gay we all look...
So Bruce, do you still play? |
