nEEd ADVISE-Topic: nEEd ADVISe

EEd ADVISE-
DIRECT TO AUDIO INPUTS OF G4?
For the situation of someone having no AUDIO i/o INTERFACE, having to connect GOING directly into there MAC inputs- the mic levels are very LOW..
What other options are out there besides using your board as a pre?

i hear the art TUBE pre's are great, are there any other single channel alternatives that someone who has experience with this could recomend in terms of there sound quality, reliabilty and PRICE?
THANKS

Ive only got an i-book, and not a whole lot of ex with PTfree but the griffin i-mike for $40 is a bargain of a get-ya-started type, no doubt many pros have many cons about this inexpensive device but I'm stoked, its a big jump to the next interface-up,
