M-box
 

A friend of my said he would sell me an m-box for cheap, but he doesn't have the protools cd. Will the m-box work with garage band?

If your friend has the registration data for the mbox, then it would be a simple matter of having him transfer the ownership to you, making you entitled to download the appropriate software and upgrade if necessary from there. If he doesn't have the registration data or didn't register it at all himself, then you can call customer service and have them register it to you. At worst, you may have to buy the upgrade to PT8.

I've been around Pro Tools for around 12 years now and I haven't actually used a "proper" install disc in 5 years or so. It's all downloadable nowadays.
