Xpand 2 doesn't load patches

Hey all, i have the opportunity to test out PT 8 for a client who i am engineering for and everything seems to be on point except for:

A) Xpand2 shows all the patches, but when i click to load one all the settings (ie., effects, eq's, etc) change for every patch i click on, but the banks show "None" and are empty. it shows the .big (or .bg??) file at over a gig in size exists. Am i missing something? all others work fine with sounds and all (Boom, mini grand, vacuum, db-33, etc.).

B) Also i noticed sometimes when i load mini grand or a rhodes patch in structure, the notes are cut off, ie, they wont sustain. i have to reboot his entire computer to get it to work right. which is sometimes several times.

thanks in advance, i am trying to show him he has a quality product, plus i want to make sure i won't have these issues when i upgrade.

Be sure all for your sample folders are not "read only."

As for the cut off samples in Structure, this has been going on since the beginning. Deleting the Air.DB file is what I do, but it will be back to haunt you again.

Re: Xpand 2 doesn't load patches

Hey Tom,

thanks for the tip. i did go in and check and it was the same as all the others that work in the PT Creative Collection folder. I guess i dont understand why structure, min grand, and boom load patch/samples fine but xpand doesn't??? it's wierd cuz all of the settings change when i change patches but nothing loads into the window.

I've been having this same problem and I feel like I've tried everything...

Sadly I just went back to Xpand!

Anybody know how to get the patches loaded or even the parts?

Re: Xpand 2 doesn't load patches

This happen to me recently, somehow Xpand2 lost the shortcut
that directs it to all the patches. It has to do with the file manager in
Xpand2 interface. I'm try to remember the exact thing I did but it's vague.

When I added the Free 250 patches I added them here before Xpand2 could
find them, so it's possible you need to move the patch data to
"Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-in Settings"

This is labor-intensive but makes things easier in the long run. Sort the new patches by type and manually copy each type to the existing XPand folder. That way when you are looking for maybe a guitar patch, the new patches will appear in the original folder along with the original patches.

yeah this sucks. the file structure looks correct, pluginsettings - XPAND2 - and all the patch data is there.

Where is the Xpand2.big file on your computer, exactly?

Have you tried trashing preferences yet?
