I had purchased a Yamaha SO3 for my daughter a few years back. I have "borrowed" it for a while. My experiments was just getting it to work. Nothing fancy, all sounds are from the SO3 itself. I'm very green on this, so I am taking baby steps !

hey thats cool though Gene, you gotta start somewhere, and the sooner you learn that MIDI stuff, the better. Theres a lot of cool stuff you can do with it. Did you play everything on that song Live and edit it through MIDI? Or do you paint it on the MIDI grid(IE, cheat, like me, hehe)?

Yes, that is what I did. The editing was very simple....making a note a little longer, or different note in the case of a wrong note played.

It is going to take some time, but that's just fine with me.

Yes- that was a Steinway D. C&A #496 actually. I used a pair of cheap Octava pencil condensers spread out about 4 feet apart and about 3 feet away from the piano. I ran them through a bellari rp220. I have a feeling that it had more to do with the fact that it was recorded in a concert hall and with a $93,000 piano. Thanks for listening.
