PT 8 Install DVD: Installation Failed
Hello,
I'm trying to install PT8 on a system (OS 10.6.6) that already had PT8 on it which was installed using the same DVD to try to install with. Meaning, I uninstalled PT8 because I was having some issues with it and my Eleven Rack, then tried reinstalling it from the same DVD I've used many times. The Installer loads fine, asks me all the normal questions of "where to install," "what to install," etc., but when it gets to the progress bar, it stops after a few seconds, goes to the next screen telling me about 3rd party software on the DVD, then goes to another screen showing the big yellow-exclamation-point graphic telling me the "installation has failed." It continues to say "The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install." I've uninstalled PT8 completely, deleted Preference files and any other Digidesign files I could find, including reinstalling OS 10.6.5 and yet this still happens. Prior to the uninstallation PT8 worked fine with my 002R, I was just having issues with my Eleven Rack where the computer wasn't recognizing it was plugged in at all. I know it's not the ER because I use the same unit on another computer which works flawlessly. Also, I've used the ER on the first computer many times without any issues. Thanks for the help. |

Re: PT 8 Install DVD: Installation Failed
Bender,
I had an issue installing Pro Tools last week on Snow Leopard. For me it was a permissions issue, the error was 'unable to install files to \.\'. I was able to resolve the issue by changing the digidesign application folder permissions to read and write. |
