Once again thanks for listening

Placing bass traps will help with low frequency standing waves. Meaning that the low frequency wont get amplified by the waves bouncing over and over off the walls, due to your control room dimensions that doesn't allow the sound wave to dissapate. Think of it as having a very long wave that bounce a wall then crosses it self again, to bounce on an other wall and crosses it self a third time, each time it crosses itself, it's actually amplifying itself, just the same was as if you have one speaker would if you add an other and a third. So placing those traps will help prevent that. Which also means that you wont be fooled anymore (at least less) by the bass presence in your room, which will translate into your mix by you tuning down the bass less. So yes adding them will be very beneficial to you.

Manny I'm on eBay now looking and researching these. I've just remixed the track with more bass and played it in my car. In the control room it was way to bass heavy but in my car it had that energy I've alway been lacking.

Cheers for your help

Great production and the song is great. The mix sounds very professional. Being a guitarist myself love the guitar sound what amp did ya use and how did ya mic it up. Also did you master this yourself or send it some where. I wish my mixes sounded like that. Oh and I love the vocal effect what did you use for that.

Great tune/mix/production

Here is the new and hopefully improved version of Haze. Still find that the mastering im doing is crushing the snare trancients. Any help on this would be much appreciated

[QUOTE=IntelDoc;1867154]Pretty happy to post this link. A band from Moscow found me on Reverbnation a few months back. Not sure of the email legitimacy factor I asked to have them email me directly with the inquiry. Well 2 days later it arrived and I was receiving the files shortly after to mix a 10 song record. Well with a newborn and all it has been tough, not to mention the language barrier, but having a good time.

Great sound. Very subtle build but that guitar figure towards the end sounds explosive but sits in the mix where the vocals still cut. I would have probably had a little fear about turning it up that loud but it works here. It does help that the notes are pretty far above the vocal in pitch. Good parts from the band.

Rock on man!! :D Definite improvement in the low end makes the track more punchy and adds more growl which is needed in this style.

Do you do any parallel compression on the drum before mastering? If you don't try it and see if it helps at the mastering stage. If it's still doing it, try using a multi-band mastering compressor, if you're not already using one. This will allow you to do some dynamic equalization and should help with your snare.

Cheers dude, I do use parallel comp, I'll try the multi band comp though. Thanks for listening to my mixes

Is it the Nesta Rea ?, is it me or is there backwards loops?, to me it's sounds unmusical, (((OK))) wait now it's playing correctly, man that is smooth!!

haha yah the video was a little um... Art commentary. Discussion I've been having with my girlfriend. Based on this guys blog and his assertion that people watch music more than they listen to it. So the video is just the remix i made playing backwards and then it plays correctly. Should be a note at the beginning that pops up saying skip to 3:25 if you would like to hear the song forward.

Did you know you tube views don't count unless you watch half the video.

All,
Hope all are well. I am in a contest currently for a Kris Allen remix on Indaba. After 1 hour my mix is at the top - sadly it has to remain there for a week. If you have 3 secs, I would love your support!

http://www.indabamusic.com/opportuni...issions/100032

I am very happy with the remix and the song stayed true to the radio quality versus the dance mixes that are submitted. I still have a dance vibe but this turned out great!

Enjoy!

Good job on this one (2nd place at the moment buddy :). I did the same song as part of the free music Friday campaign that's above. Personally I think we went a little over the top on this one. But hey it's meant for my kids taste so...

Re: Let's hear your latest stuff....right here

Thanks guys - I was happy and shocked to see this start at 7th or 8th and then shoot up to 1st for about a day. I have been at 2nd for a few now, but happy as hell about it. This one I really wanted to keep radio versus all the dance dubstep stuff that typically comes from that site. I also found it very cool to see the LIVE American Idol show that had Kris Allen performing the tune. It was VERY similar to my mix - I wonder if he heard it? Even my wife made a comment that she thought it was my song.

Thanks for the votes guys - really appreciate it. I think that this one comes down to Kris making the decision but who knows.

Hey guys!

Would you mind taking a listen to this track & giving me some tips on these things:

-mix
-how to get rid of the box type effect on the low end (you know the sound that is really cloudy)
-how to get a brighter sound to the overall track while still using the crunchy guitars

It's just pop rock / punk music....I would like to make it sound similar to Green Day or Good Charlotte -- Just a very bright/catchy pop punk you know.

Thanks for checking it out!

Here's the link!

NOTE: My equipment isnt the best but at the same time I feel it's all within the EQ'ing & adding 'good air' or whatever you call it!

THANKS!

Re: Let's hear your latest stuff....right here

Hey smokinmike.

I'm no expert on recording at all, so it's just my to cents.

I can't realy answer any of your questions, but overall I think the mix is quite good. Only thing is that the guitar sound might be a bit to distorted? At least I found it hard to hear strumming, but a mere continuously distorted sound? Other than that it's quite catchy and I liked it.

If you like to I would love to get some feedback on some of my songs that you can find here: http://soundcloud.com/iamthewalther

It's a completely different genre, but I've recently started to make electronic music instead of rock which I've played all my life.

Best

IF you want to get rid of the muddiness in the low end, instantiate (open) a EQ 1 on all of your tracks (except maybe the kick if it's the one that drives the song, if it's the bass, don't put it on it), set the q so it's rather narrow but not too much, then set your settings to 300-400 hrz (play with it to see what's best) then drop the db by a few, 3-6db is enough. A simplified way is to do it on one track, then alt (option) drag the plugin across your other tracks.

Once your mix is done, you can then do a general EQ on the master bus (fader) where you can give it a bit more air.

Btw, for your backvocals, you might want to pan them slightly to the side instead of leaving them dead center with the lead vocal. It will give some clarity.
