Any comments on the APEX 460 microphone?
 

Anyone had a chance to evaluate/compare this mic as yet? Lemix? Anyone????

Sure..
Great value ! It costs can $ 260 up here, and I did give it a quick listen.
Nothing in that price range beats it , IMHO. Grab a couple to try and keep the better one. There is a slight level/color difference between individual pieces. Again..IMO.

I'm happy with mine. I have heard changing the tube to something else makes it way better, but I am stuck trying to figure out what to use. I have a bunch of different 12ax7's laying about, different brands and gain levels. I make have to do a switcheroo.

I'm happy with my 460 too. I think it sounds full and rich and very detailed. It's a great bang for the buck mic for sure. I have a Electro-Harmonix 6072a/12ay7 in mine. It sounds good on just about anything I've used it on. The output is really hot, sometimes too hot for some preamps.

I bought one that has the mod done with the tube and some circuits. Should get it any day now. I also picked up a second NTK the othe night for stereo room mics for drums. If I like the 460 enought I will probably get a second for stereo apps as well.

From what SpkGuitar sent me, it sounds awesome.

Cannot wait to throw it through the X73i and 1176 combo.
