Hardware compatability
I've asked this question before, but the issue was avoided. I've been recording/editing audio on the PC for years. Just about all of the pro audio software available on the PC is compatable with all of the audio hardware available. Will this be the case with Pro Tools. To be specific, will I be able to output audio through the Digidesign hardware (888) from another piece of software, say Sound Forge or SAW. This is true on the Mac platform no? You can spit out audio from Digital Performer, Cubase etc.

Re: Hardware compatability
Hi. What you are asking about specifically
are "drivers" that allow communication between third party NT audio applications and Digidesign hardware. Digi is very close (a few weeks) away from releasing PT/NT for our Mix hardware (current generation hardware). The PT software application for that will ship with new full duplex NT wave drivers. These drivers will allow Sound Forge and other third party NT applications to use either the Mix hardware or D|24 hardware. I hope this information is helpful. Stay tuned. Tom S. |
